2016 started and continued to be a very boring bad boxing year. even so there have been fights in like 3 divisions where the 2 best boxers (or so called best, cause i dont have ward in my top 4 lh) faced each other. did latest fights like kovalev-ward (entertaining fight), pacs return, joshs demolition of molina, possible foty chisora-whyte or frampton-leo, ggg vs brook (which was entertaining until the to early end), did all these fight save 2016 from being one of the worst years in boxing?

Was a pretty dull year capped off with a bang.

While it has ended with a flourish, I would hope that it is less than average going forward.

Worst year of Boxing I've ever seen by far. It's ended better, but it wasn't enough to make up for the crap year it was.

This year is the least attention I've paid to boxing since I was introduced to it. I prefer the UFC now for the matchmaking quality.

By far the worst of my lifetime. Terrible. Last year sucked. Until this year. That's speaking as an American. It's dead here

Its been a decent year...however if you just focus on American stuff it's been crap. If you look globally it's been good, we've had 4 of the top 6 minimumweights face off, the shuffle at 112/115 has left both division's feeling fresh whilst fights like Gonzalez vs Cuadras and Conlan vs Nelson were tremendous, Yamanaka Vs Moreno2/Warren vs Payano2/McDonnell vs Solis were all interesting top 10 type bouts (and Tapales vs Pungluang was FOTY nomination worthy), 122 had the fight we wanted (Quigg vs Frampton) along with the emergence of Guzman, Hasegawa vs Ruiz and the brilliant Ishimoto vs Furuhashi rematch, 126 had Frampton vs LSC, Mares' revival, 130 had a huge shock (Corrales vs Uchiyama), Lomachenko fitting in and Vargas vs Salido

...need I continue?

Yeah the higher profile divisions (147,160,175 and HW) failed to provide what we wanted but the year was good lower down.

Start was boring. Middle was painful because all of the fights that were supposed to happen but didn't.

End was better.

It was still bit ruined by the hometown decisions in Ward vs Kovalev, Parker vs Ruiz and Whyte vs Chisora fights.

I really hope next year will be better.

Dreadful year for boxing, especially amongst the heavyweights.

Whyte v Chisora has restored some gloss, but they're not elite guys!

It was pretty good, IMO. The last month really helped get it on track. There was at least one pathetic lull around Octoberish, and I'm sure more lulls that weren't very memorable. But between Ward - Kovalev, Lomachenko - Walters, Frampton - Quigg, Frampton - LSC, Mares - Cuellar, Crawford - Postol, Thurman - Porter, Lara - Martirosyan, Charlo - Williams, Charlo - Trout, Gonzalez - Cuadras, Sosa - Fortuna, Linares - Crolla, Usyk - Glowacki, Pulev - Chisora, Whyte - Chisora, Corrales - Uchiyama (about to be twice), Parker - Takam, Ramirez - Abraham, Barthelemy - Bey, etc.; I feel like the sport has offered up a fairly large percentage of the premium match-ups that it could deliver on. We got nearly the best match-ups possible in plenty of divisions, whereas there are definitely other years that barely manage to deliver the best available match-ups in 4 divisions. It was definitely a slow year for the welterweight division, since Pacquiao and Bradley just gave us something we've already seen before, Brook got sparked by a superior middleweight, and Garcia wasted his time. It was a fairly slow year at the top of the heavyweight division, where we didn't get anything very worthy from Fury, Klitschko, Wilder, Joshua, Potvetkin, or Ortiz. And of course, the middleweight division continues to offer nothing. But I'm appreciative for the 7 super fights that we did get.

It was a fair Boxing year as years go... Less than a year ago Luis Ortiz destroyed Bryant Jennings, who went the distance to Wladimir Klitschko in his previous fight. It was a masterful display by Ortiz, however I don't understand the fights he's been getting since.. Why throw a kid like David Allen to the wolves?? Especially since he only had 11 pro fights and got trashed in his previous fight.. Why do that to the kid?? You'll destroy his chin and he won't have a chance to go anywhere ... It's immoral to put a kid into a fight where he has a 99% chance of getting knocked out -- unless it's a situation like Foreman-Frazier. If you're the undefeated Heavyweight Champion you may have to fight the most dangerous guy in the division.. If you have no chance in Hell that's your problem. But you can't get anyone ranked to fight Ortiz so you let him murder somebody who's a totally inappropriate matchup???

The Kovalev-Ward fight is something I looked forward to for several years -- but the rigged decision handed down by the judges was an abomination.

I looked forward to the Lomachenko-Walters fight, ever since Walters crushed Nonito Donaire.. Walters was so uncompetitive it was a huge letdown.

I'm very pissed off that Gary Russell can't get the other Featherweight Champions to fight him.. He's a Al Haymon guy and being treated like dirt.

The Golovkin-Alvarez, Golovkin-Eubank, and Golovkin-Jacobs fights were supposed to be this year.. GGG is being shut out of big fights.

Pacquiao-Crawford obviously didn't happen... Pacquiao is continues to duck the top Welterweights as he's been doing for years.

The Usyk-Glowacki fight happened at Cruiserweight, which is good... But few Americans have seen him -- or even know who he is.

Povetkin-Wilder and Joshua-Parker obviously didn't happen... And it seems to be taking a long time to sort out the Heavyweights.

Joshua stayed busy with 3 Heavyweight Championship Fights... All against guys who couldn't knock his hat off.

There continues to be great match-ups out there begging to be made... And nobody is making them.

5/10. Would have been lower if not for the last couple of months. Certain divisions, usually the lower weights and cruiserweight, have served up some good fights.

One of my main complaints with boxing in 2016 is inactivity.

0 fights - Tyson Fury, Wladimir Klitschko, Peter Quillin, Andy Lee. Probably more but they're not on BoxRec so I forget them.

well you lot saying it was a poor year must have good memories because I cant remember everything that has happened worldwide during the last 11.5 months

We could have added Tommy Hearns/SRL 1 into the 2016 calendar and it would still be considered one of the worst boxing years in my lifetime. We had a few good fights, yes. But there was a lull without an interesting fight for months straight. Summer and Fall were horrific. By far the worst year for boxing in at least my 35 years of watching.

thought it was a good year. alot happening not always in the ring and not always in the USA. but i would say it was 7/10

New Year's Eve fights in Japan always fun to watch
