Apologies, I haven't been on here for a while, and I may be a bit out of the "loop".

Just watched this video of Lenny, v a 21 stone bouncer named York. I noticed a bloke at the end of the video, and he looks to be Bartley Gorman. Having read his book, I know he mentioned a possible fight with Mclean that never came off, but can anyone confirm if it is Bartley in the footage? Many thanks

What a load of nonsense. There is no doubt that McLean is big, aggressive and can punch a bit.... but beating up a fat, out of shape man in Daley Thompson shorts is not that impressive. As to Gorman, do any film exist of him??? It always amuses me that every gypsy bare knuckle boxer claims to be unbeaten in 100 fights. Pathetic

I can see Man mountain York on the Wembley undercard

I don't think that was Gorman in the footage but Henry is the man to clarify and clear this up.

First time I've laughed all week regarding the opponent and shorts.

McLean said he was unbeaten in about 3000, if I recall his terrible book correctly.

Yes these very tough, aggressive guys who live to fight do like to manage their own legend with unverified or unofficial fights. Especially a lot of pre Pride and pre UFC names.

Definitely, a guy you wouldn't have messed with, even when he was older. But, someone who likely used size, intimidation, loud voice and reputation combined to scare and batter a lot of people. Obviously he had a lot of balls and was a hard dude, but likely wouldn't have been a good boxer. On the other hand, a lot of boxers might not have been as good good stretfighters, gangsters etc I suppose.

His second cousin and promotor who's name cannot be typed on this website said he was a big bully without much skill. He'd get destroyed at southern area level but people love a fantasy. Didn't an ex boxer cliff fields destroy him when he was half blind?

It was Roy York the cornerman at the end

Remember you used to get meffs on boards like this having just read the mclean or shaw book and then come on here saying that they'd beat tyson in a street fight
