Usyk is the fighter of the year !

I have no dillema. Usyk is the fighter of the year - clear victories, without judge's help.
Lomachenko is a great champion, too...But, you can not compare competition at 130 and 200...Jip wrote:usyk or loma
Good point but I would put him in the Usyk 6-10 grouping.armageto wrote:Not for nothing, but Joe Smiths two big underdog wins should land him somewhere in the top 5 list for fighter of the year, at least to me...
I can not agree with you. Pac is/was a genuine champion, but what has he done this year ? Ward's victory over Kovalev is very, very questionable - I can not call it a robbery like majority of boxing fans, but it was very, very close. Crawford and Lomachenko have deserved position in the top 5, surely.Tanzio wrote:1. Ward
2. Frampton
3. Lomassiah
4. Pac
5. TCraw
Usyk lands somewhere in the 6-10 range.
Agree to disagree. I could possibly see Pac falling out of the top 5. Hitman Jr probably deserves number 4. A coin toss to determine whether Usyk or Smith squeeze into # 5 would suffice.ValMar wrote:I can not agree with you. Pac is/was a genuine champion, but what has he done this year ? I am not convinced about Frampton - not so strong competition...
Are you combining your fighter of the year list with your P4P list?ValMar wrote:I have not intended this, but I will attempt to make my top 10 list for 2016 :
1. Usyk
2. Crawford
3. Lomachenko
4. Gonzalez
5. Golovkin
6. Joshua
7. Canelo
8. Thurman
9. Spence
10. Parker
I have to repeat, I respect (and like) Loma and Gonzalez, but competition in the divisions bellow 140 is pretty weak (it is my point of view, and I don't want to convince anybody about that).Tanzio wrote:Agree to disagree. Frampton beat two undefeated champions in two different weight classes. What part of that do you not understand?
No ! You can see I haven't put Ward and Kovalev, both of them have to be on any p4p list.Tanzio wrote:Are you combining your fighter of the year list with your P4P list?ValMar wrote:I have not intended this, but I will attempt to make my top 10 list for 2016 :

I am unbiased boxing fan, and I am rooting for good, competitive fights. I don' care for boxer's race/ethnicity/nationality. Every normal boxing fan knows that Ward and Kovalev belong to the top 10 p4p list. There is no need for debate about that, it is quite obvious.Tanzio wrote:Not according to some around here.ValMar wrote:No ! 6-4 for Smith was pretty tight, a big punching 27yr old v a 51 yr old man who looked every year of it at the weigh in.Tanzio wrote:I apologize. I did not realize that you set the oddssamwbr wrote:not for me, he was never going to win that fight.Tanzio wrote: Yes he was.![]()
