WBO world featherweight champion Scott Harrison has been forced to delay next month's title defence after being struck down by food poisoning.
The Cambuslang fighter was scheduled to fight on 10 September at Glasgow's Kelvin Hall.

But Harrison's father and trainer Peter said: "Scott ate a dodgy fish while on holiday in Cyprus and he's still feeling weak now."

The bout is now expected to take place in October.

"There's no point in risking anything when we have the belt," added Harrison senior.

"You'd maybe take a chance if you were challenging for the title but not when you're defending it."

The real reason for the September 10 date being put back, is because Carl Thompson fights David Haye on the same night in a 12-rounder at Wembley.
Nobody but Harrison's diehard Scottish fans would have been in the Kelvin Hall.

There is still over a month to fight time, sounds a bit fishy to me.

This year has been a shocker for Boxers being 'ill'.

what dyou mean again? i cant recall harrison pulling out of any other fights due to sickness. seems fair enough if hes ill and cant train especially following the medina defeat. if they guy feels shit and cant train better to give it a miss. if he takes the fight, does crap then comes out and says he couldnt train properly then he'd get critisised for making excuses 'if he was ill he should have cancelled the fight' etc.

at least if he fights a shocker in the resheduled bout he can have no excuses ala farnells book of ropey reasons

there was talk of him fighting an african whose name i cant remember for the life of me!!

I was planning on going to this. not because im a "die hard Scottish fan" but because at the end of the day i would rather go and support local boxers fighting live at a show, rather than sitting watching a bout on tv
