WBO super featherweight world champion Vasyl Lomachenko will likely face former two-division world champion Orlando Salido in his next fight on March 25. Lomachenko said today on Ukrainian TV that Salido is the most likely option for his next fight, but contracts aren’t signed yet.

The Lomassiah gets revenge.

I doubt if Salido agrees to fight him. He's a piece of crap and lost the 1st SD by a clear margin. Loma would utterly destroy him this time, and he'll try to foul like a bastard again... This time Loma will rip him back when he fouls -- and Lawrence Cole won't be the referee.

I'd like to see him try to avenge the loss, which often still gets held against him despite his pro inexpeirence at the time. In my opinion Salido deserved a win over Vargas last time out, so I don't think he's markedly faded since the initial Loma bout.

Loma fights in a one cycle ,he uses a pause technique that lets him stall and hold the move then continue until the opponent breaks it with a significant rally or defensive maneuver.
Seen it before somewhere just trying to remember.

Loma doesn't give you anything but stays very active... He feels you out with feints, foot movement, and body movement to see what you'll do and when you'll do it... He then proceeds to hammer you non-stop with the most sustained combinations I've ever seen... One combination can begin with body shots, switch to the head, go back to the body, go to the head again and back to the body... He'll out-punch opponents like 46 to 4 in a round... and the 4 is a very generous number.

I don't see the point in Vasyl taking this bout, other than to avenge his sole defeat, because he'll be facing a rather ancient (at least for a man of Salido's age competing as a super-featherweight) opponent that hasn't won a fight for two and a half years.

Salido isn't my top choice, but I can see why loma wants it. There really aren't many great options at 130.

Many observers, myself included, thought Salido deserved a win just 6 months ago against an unbeaten title holder who was favoured to beat him, and right before that he improved on his first Martinez showing. His performaces dont at all suggest he's past it, and I dont know why some suggest that he's faded notably since the prior encounter; who doubts that he'd still beat lower level opponents like Orlando Cruz? Would him beating up a clubfighter make this a better match, because then he'd be coming off a win?
Loma being able to avenge his only loss, one that critics still hold against him, makes this a meaningful bout for him. Part of me wonders if some people dislike this fight because, should Loma win, it will be more difficult to cling so tightly to his loss.

He wants it to avenge his loss - which wasn't a real loss... 2 judges saw what they wanted to see - just like 1 judge saw De La Hoya beating Mayweather.

Not to mention Salido landed at least 40 low blows

I hope Salido has one more brilliant fight left in him because nothing would make me happier than to see him manhandle Lomachenko's ass again. It took Salido over 30 fights to get a title shot and he's done it the right way. Nothing was ever just handed to him like Lomachenko.
I don't care how talented the kid is. There's certain things boxers need to do and endure to get these shots. This is why i think that none of Lomachenko's records should count as he's been unfairly brought along. He's spit in the eye of boxing integrity and boxing senior members let him do it.

If by manhandle you mean he had to come in overweight and fight dirty by landing low blow after low blow and hold on for dear life in the last few rounds not to get KO'd then I agree with your meaning of manhandle.

Ya, he should beat Matias Rueda and a bunch of bums to pay his due like Oscar Valdez has
Fuckk record padding and those who advocate it; Loma has more quality on his record than most guys with 25+ fights, and that's what should count.

Such a stupid line of thought.

Saldio has always blown a little hot and cold so it's hard to say exactly how much he has faded, though his "hot" seems a little less intense these last couple of years. Still, whatever you think of the details of their first fight Salido was able to find a way to fight far more effectively than any other of Loma's other opponents so far. I'm just hoping that if Vasyl wins he doesn't again only fight twice in 2017. Too many potentially interesting fights out there for him to be sitting around already.

A win is a win my friend. Maybe if Loma gathered up some professional experience and earned his title shots the way that guys like Valdez did, he would have been better prepared to withstand Salido's tactics. He was outmatched and outgunned and Salido CLEARLY won the fight. If you get beat by a fighter ranked roughly 5th in your weight class then how could you make any P4P list? You shouldn't. I hope Loma enjoys that loss in this record. He deserved it.

People like you are the problem with boxing and why champions are throwing belts in the trash these days. I'll commend any fighter that takes tough fights right out of the gate but just don't let those fights be world title fights and i'll be on the other side of the tracks on this. World Title fights should not be handed out to anyone and it cheapens the ultimate prize of the sport, the belts. Raising these belts used to mean almost everything in Boxing. Now it's a bargaining chip and a vehicle promoters could use to sign fighters? That's blatant corruption. No other way to see it.

Lomachenko is a great talent, no disputing that. I don't blame his loss on him at all. His stupid handlers and promoter is to fault. No matter how good you are as an amateur, you don't throw the guy in a fight like that so soon. Total freaking idiots. At least let him get used to the longer bouts in a few fights first. Salido had no business beating Lomo, but we can't change it now. Lomo will stop him this time. This time, we will see how it would have went the first time with a little experience under his belt.

Lol, caldo still giving it the 'loma didn't pay his dues' butthurtness. We get it, caldo, more fans like you would have preserved the integrity of this formerly-pristine sport.
