WBA Super World junior middleweight champion Erislandy “The American Dream” Lara (23-2-2, 13 KOs) has two more fights left at 154 against fringe contender Yuri Foreman (34-2, 10 KOs) and WBC champion Jermell Charlo (28-0, 13 KOs) before he moves up to middleweight to go after the world titles in that weight class.

Lara will be done with the junior middleweight division before the end of 2017. The Lara-Foreman fight will be televised on Premier Boxing Champions on Spike. The fight will be taking place at the Hialeah Park Racing Casino in Hialeah, Florida, USA.

Lara said this about his fight against Foreman:

“On fight night, I’m making another statement and going for the knockout!” said Lara about his fight against Foreman. After this fight, it’s time to unify the division, then move up to win the middleweight titles. Everyone should tune in because it’s going to be a great night of boxing.”

He won't be fighting a Charlo. Faulty reporting.

Don't give me the bullcrap about going for a KO versus Foreman.. Foreman has no knees, no chin, and no game.. It's like Beterbiev's last fight.

They all used to work with Ronnie Shields, but Jermell switched trainers to the guy that trains Errol Spence.

The site homepage showing what's currently top thread, just had the words 'Lara moving...'

Anyone else think it was going to end 'too much, he should throw more punches' ?

I doubt if Lara and the Charlo brothers fight ever. Trained and sparred together too long.

Should've moved to MW sometime in the last 2 years and got that WBA belt off Danny Jacobs.
Lara could've already got a mandatory shot at GGG, if he really wanted that fight(He doesn't)
It's easier to talk about it and then fight Yuri Foreman.

It will be interesting to see if Lara can find the money fights he's been longing for by moving up. I think that it's a super move for him to get away from a division where 2 of the world champions (Charlo's) that he can never fight. Perhaps that situation at JMW is the main reason why Lara hasn't enjoyed the type of success he's looking for.

In addition to not fighting the Charlo brothers, Canelo is another that won't ever fight Lara again. Lara needs to quit doing so much running around the ring and make his fights more attractive to the fans if he wants the big fights. He is great at what he does, but very few want to see it. He is his own worst enemy. I read once that he walks around at 180, so if true its another good reason to move up.

Headline should say that Lara is never moving up to 160 lbs. He's already stated something about not wanting to fight either Charlo. He should've moved up long ago and fought Sergei Derevyanchenko, Matt Korobov, or Avantadil Khurtisidze. 2 of those fighters are already in his stable so it would've been easy to make. Likely, Lara doesn't beat any of these three guys, though.

Derevyanchenko is a phenom. Anyone doubting the dude's talent is clueless. You can say that about any fight in which a prospect steps up against a vet. Look at Donaire/Magdaleno and Lomachenko/Russell Jr. Plenty of examples to show.

He joined Gaymon's stable which I don't think was good for his career. He looks phenomenal thus far, and I would definitely back him to beat a lot of MWs in the top 10 right now. Yes, there are some that don't do as well like Alphonso Blanco just now who has a crazy amateur resume. Still, I think Derevyanchenko is definitely the goods. The man has stamina for miles, and I think his fighting style transitioned very well for the professional ranks.

Someone showed me his fights from WSB, and you could see his style was more suited for the pros.

I've seen Lara fight a handful of times now and for the most part, I've found his boxing style to be pretty darn exciting. He was awful in the Canelo fight, granted, but i think that was the only fight that he failed to entertain. The Angulo fight was fantastic. I even liked the way he fought against Vanes.

I won't miss a Lara fight if it's on and that says a lot. I don't waste my time with boring fighters and I wouldn't put Lara anywhere close to that category yet. I think that he gets a bad rap for one bad night.

Lara is somewhat entertaining. His problem is that fans want to see KOs, and Lara doesn't make that extra effort and doesn't want to take that extra risk in order to stop even C level opposition like Delvin Rodriguez.
