He's not as bad as a tomato can - he does have a few decent wins on his record (as opposed to, say, de Mori) but it's a real stretch to say he is a worthy challenger.

Wilder will get his ass owned soon as he steps up big time, the guy is in his prime fighting these bums, how much is he getting for these type of fights?

Cut Wilder some slack he's only been a pro for 9 years and it's only his 5th defence of the WBC World Heavy Weight Title.

Yeah the first 6 years of Wilder's career were complete!y wasted fighting ridiculously sub standard opponents, looks like they are now giving him the fights he should have had back then.

Whoever has controlled Wilders career has serious reservations over his abilities, but if they are right about his limitations. They have done a great job in guiding him to a world title unbeaten, 5 successful decfences, millions in the bank.

Going the tougher route could have made him a global superstar and a worldwide household name, or completely exposed him, left him short of cash and looking for another career.

Wawrzyk really earned this title shot with his great wins over Marcin Rekowski and shopworn Albert Sosnowski.

After that he'll find an excuse to fight another bum rather than stepping up.

I'll be honest I like Wilder. He comes across as a decent man.

I know he's fought mainly shite opposition, and this next bloke looks no different, but Wilder did fight five times in 18 months which is pretty bloody good by today's standards. He's coming off a fairly bad injury so a gimme on his return fight isn't terrible.

Back up until 1980 this would have been a standard return fight from injury but definitely a non title fight. Now, with up to SEVEN titles per weight (more if you include the 3 by the WBA) anything is pretty much a title fight.

Not Wilder's fault. He gets a lot more tv money if "World Title" is attached to his bout.

Hopefully after this he has a better level fight.

Ya, Wawrzyk has heavily padded his way to 33-1. His best win may well be over Marcin Rekowski, who isnt even top 5 in Poland and had just been stopped by a journeyman.

To be fair Wilder coming back off a bad injury. This is just a warm up fight and he will up the opposition afterwards if he comes through unscathed.
A fit and healthy Wilder is a active one. Opposistion isnt the best but at least they are active. Same goes for AJ and Parker.
40 years ago this would of been a non-title fight. But with tv money and sponsorship those days have gone in modern boxing.

Possible future opponent: Jun Long Zhang. Also hasn't faced any top class opposition but has a 100% ko record and imagine the cross-promotion in China!

Any decent fighter that gets made mandatory for Wilder's WBC belt will fail drug testing by American drug testing VADA. Only to be told, once Wilder is allowed to pick yet another terrible opponent or the WBC pick a terrible mandatory will the fighter in question be cleared of all charges the week after.

Gotta protect the undefeated American fighters at all costs! Even if they have to fake drugs testing. No doubt Kovalev would have failed if he'd Knocked out Ward (he couldn't win on points!).

I've said it before , if you claim to be the world's best in any other sport you have to regularly meet your best rivals. Andy Murray v Djokovic, Jason Day facing ther top golfers in the world every time he plays, Barcelona in the Champions League etc etc. Not in boxing however. As long as the mugs keep paying you can fight anybody with a beating heart.

Molina recently beated Adamek, who was rated a lot lot higher as Wawrzyk or whatever his name is has ever been.

Wawrzyk is nowhere near the top level and is a weak opponent even considering Wilder's injuries; you're talking about a guy whose best win is probably over Marcin Rekowski, and who went life and death with someone AJ blasted out less than a year after turning pro.

'He'll fight someone better next time' has gotten old
