Enjoyed watching Steve's career, he was a decent operator and gave me a few good nights in front of the TV with a few tinnies

I remember a couple of years later when Winky became a superstar - I googled him to check it was the same person who boxed Foster and Bingo in Manchester and not another boxer with the same !

I also did the same thing with Sergio Martinez !

It was satisfying watching them do well having followed their British fights, both winning light middleweight titles, albeit Winky eventually taking every belt, but with only Martinez taking middleweight honours of the two.

Foster Snr was a fantastic ticket seller.

I agree with the poster above. My first look at Ronald Wright was in his little (not that little) 3 fight UK tour. Always have that image of Winky after he'd hurt Foster follow him across the ring with that little grin and a wink .... like "this is it". It was obvious he was a special talent. If I can go off on a tangent - I would suggest that in Winky's generation, those American fighters were all business. Over here, we try, but in America they were on a different level.

I also would like to put it here, that Steve Foster's son (Steven Foster Jnr) against Alex Arthur is one of the greatest fights and greatest performances I have ever witnessed. I was hugely impressed.
