So Commonwealth Games gold medal winner and WBA Oceania bantamweight titlist Andrew Moloney takes on Filipino Renoel Pael.

Andrew Moloney, whose Commonwealth title tilt a few months back fell through, looking to make it 12-0.

Andrew's brother Jason, also 11-0, will very likely appear on the undercard as well.

The other bout announced so far has the look of a mismatch. Trent Broadhurst, who continues to look a bright prospect, shouldn't have too much difficulty with veteran Nader Hamdan. Nader's comeback has so far consisted of beating a very beatable Thai and losing badly to Jayde Mitchell and Damian Hooper.

I suspect we might see cruiserweight Mark 'Boom Boom' Flanagan, super middleweight Jayde Mitchell or super lightweight Czar Amonsot in the main support bout here.

(I notice Amonsot is penciled in for a fight in March in Melbourne though)

Hopefully the full card will fall into place soon, or they'll run into trouble. All NSW registered combatants need to renew their rego, as all expired on Dec 31. Some might also need to submit full medical and all will need MRI clearance.....no matter where they're registered.

Jason Moloney 11-0 is fighting Filipino Marco Demecillo 22-6-1.

Demecillo fought TJ Doheny mid 2015 and barely won a round. TJ is 16-0 and very handy though.

Shane Tuck has been added to the undercard.

Tuck, a former AFL footballer, had shown a lot of potential in the gym prior to his first pro on the Mundine vs Hatley undercard. But he ran into a bloke called Lucas Miller, who can punch, and got himself KOed. Miller has since knocked out a few others and is undefeated after 6 fights.

I don't think Shane Tuck is a quitter mate.

His father Michael was the AFL games record holder for many years. He played over 400 games for Hawthorn, and Shane's mother is the sister of Gary Ablett Snr.

Hawthorn drafted Shane and he was sacked without even playing a senior game. He could easily have quit then, and who could have blamed him? But Shane instead went to Richmond where he played nearly 200 games and carved out a career of his own.

Shane spent 4 days in hospital after his first and only pro fight, But he said soon afterward he'd be back and to his credit he is.

It's not about quitting (I hate that term when used in reference to boxers and boxing :-x ) but more about his well being. Boxing can be such a brutal sport and anyone in it that may not be 100% fit for it either mentally or physically, could find themselves in a bit of bother. Anyway, I hope there are people genuinely looking out for him :TU:

I think he was just plain over matched. That can happen, particularly in your pro debut, and I get the impression he thinks the same thing. Let's see how he goes against a different opponent before we go writing him off.

what a pity the card is shaping up like this. Greena andChocs camps had the ability to finally put on a grand show of Aussies best up and comers and present boxers in what will be their last harrah and t looks like we will be fed what resembles a Fox FNF show. But i will still pay and hey know it. thats what happens in a boxing starved country. we end paying for stuff we usually wouldnt. I am still keen on the main event though.

We are getting Jack-DeGale free this Sunday not to mention a lot of other good OS fights.

I rate Andrew Moloney, Trent Broadhurst and Jason Moloney among our best up and comers. Grated they could have been matched against better opponents though.

So add Tim Tszyu to Andrew Moloney, Trent Broadhurst and Jason Moloney and I have no qualms about the young local talent being given an opportunity on the undercard :TU:

Quade and Shane are only there as a novelty, and surely this must be the last throw of the dice for Nader.

Stellar undercard for Anthony Mundine v Danny Green

While Danny Green and Anthony Mundine steal all the attention ahead of Friday night’s rematch at Adelaide Oval, some of the brightest stars in Australian boxing will shine on a stellar undercard.

Brisbane’s world No.10 light-heavyweight Trent Broadhurst will face two-time world title challenger Nader Hamdan, who despite being 42 has promised to test the hot prospect to “the limit”.

Hamdan, who went the distance with Mundine and German-based Russian Robert Stieglitz in world title fights, said he could upset the odds against Broadhurst, who has 19 wins in 20 fights.

Hamdan is coming off points losses to Dalby Olympian Damien Hooper and Melbourne prospect Jayde Mitchell but has been stopped only once in 58 fights.

I don't see it as a stellar undercard, but nyone who has followed the fight game for more than 5 minutes knows there have been far, far worse undercards assembled than this one.
