MGM Scotland’s Iain Butcher fights February 18 at the Lagoon Centre, Paisley – an opponent has still to be announced. Butcher had three good wins in 2016 with victories against Sergey Tasimov, Thomas Essomba and Joseafat Reyes.

The Jerviston boxer last fought on the 3rd of December 2016 against Joseafat Reyes; referee Kevin McIntyre scored the fight 59-56 to Butcher.

Struggling with the demands of everyday life can’t be easy for the Scottish boxer, he told Ringnews24.com:

“It’s very hard as I work night shifts. The week of that fight [Reyes], that was the most exhausted I had been, and I worked Monday night through till Friday morning – then I went straight to the weigh-in.

“I only had the Friday night off until the Saturday. So it was quite a tough week way fitting in the last bits of training. Obviously like you said, I have the wee boy there as well so it was quite tough.

An interview I did last night with Iain Butcher. I'm sure a few of you will recall his fight he had against Kevin Satchell. I hope you enjoy the interview guys.

What the heck has this guy been doing for the last 3.5 years since he fought Satchell?

He needs a much better promoter.

He's wasting his career.

He has had a few injury's Horse and I agree he needs to get moving. I think that's one of the reasons he has signed with MGM and the fact they have recently had two shows on Box-Nation is good news for Ians career if it continues. Hopefully he gets a chance to fight for the vacant flyweight title in 2017.

Sounds a really down to earth young man who imo won the Satchell fight I hope he can get another shot at British Title and further success

Speaking of Satchell, why did he go from Lonsdale and EBU titles to 6 rounders against journeymen? Seems like Butcher and Satchell have stagnated, but at least Satchell previously had that run of title wins (though I thought he was lucky against Butcher).

I just double checked both records and thought the same.

Was it Satchel in a a national final as an amateur and everyone was saying it was one if the best amateur fights ever it something?

Seems strange that both lads haven't much in the last 4 or 5 years

Satchell says he's going back down to Flyweight. He's had a couple at Bantam.
He's a big lad I think he will struggle to get down there.
Nice that we have a good handful of fly/s-Flys around.
When Selby moves on the British should have some good fights. Farrag moving down to super-fly aswell.
