“Right now we are only looking at Australia and Jeff Horn" - Bob Arum

As Manny Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum sat down with Jeff Horn’s backer Dean Lonergan in Las Vegas last night to thrash out a deal, Arum declared that as far as Pacquiao’s next fight was concerned: “Right now, we are only looking at Australia.’’

He said as soon as a “conditional contract’’ was in place he would fly to Manila and get Pacquiao signature to finalise the deal.

Jeff Horn hopes to have the fight before his home crowd at Suncorp Stadium, but Lonergan said the fight would go to the city that made the “best commercial sense’’ with stadiums around Australia being considered.

Arum wants Pacquiao to go on a world tour in 2017 and said if he won against Horn he planned two more fights — in Russia and England.

If we can believe what we are reading - always dangerous with boxing - this Pacquiao vs Horn fight is very close to agreement.

It's understood Jeff Horn's proposed blockbuster bout against the legendary Manny Pacquiao will go ahead.

An announcement is set for 1.30pm local time in Brisbane (2.30pm AEDT).

Horn's promoters, Duco, have been in the US holding discussions with Bob Arum, Pacquiao's promoter and one of the most powerful figures in the sport.

It's believed they have signed a conditional agreement that allows planning for the fight to go ahead.

It's not clear where it will be held, and though Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium is the preferred venue, a bidding war is likely to begin with Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide also in contention.

It really isn't a rub now. More money for huge gates outside of the boxing dead zone that is the USA. Manny/malignaggi might be next!

Horn's an unbeaten Top 15-ish guy. Pac is a 38 year old future Hall of Famer who's best days are behind him.

There comes a time in every fighters career when his legacy is established and he's just fighting for a little more money. That's where Manny is now.

This isn't the greatest fight, but Manny really doesn't owe us as Boxing fans anymore at this point. Everything from here on out is gravy.

Bob Arum :

“Our preference is to have it free for customers in the United States."
“But if that’s not possible, if nobody will step up to the plate and do it – it’s not only HBO – then what we do is maybe put on some of our fighters from the US and do a split-site type of event and put it on pay-per-view.”

"We did world tours with Muhammad Ali and that's what I'm going to do with Manny. It's good for him to fight all over. He might be president of the Philippines someday and fighting around the world is good for that possibility."

Australia as the venue may not be over the line yet

Australian welterweight Jeff Horn will fight the legendary Manny Pacquiao in April, but his promoters Duco Events are now on a mission to ensure the bout takes place on home soil.

Horn has been locked in to face Pacquiao on Sunday, April 23, Duco confirmed on Tuesday.

But venue for the fight is up in the air, with Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, the Middle East and the United States all under consideration.

If HBO didn't pick up PAC-Vargas, I doubt they are going to pick up a Pac-Horn fight being televised from Australia with a 16 hour time difference.

I'm a Manny Pacquiao fan, who has bought virtually every single one his PPV fights. And I'm telling you that this is something that I will not be spending money on. It's a trash fight that is going to have terrible numbers if it is indeed PPV.

Jeff Horn Will Fight Manny Pacquaio In Australia's Biggest Ever Boxing Match

The biggest boxing fight in Australia's history has been confirmed, with Aussie boxer Jeff Horn set to fight Filipino and reigning champion Manny Pacquiao in April.

The announcement was made at 2:30pm (AEDT) in Brisbane on Wednesday, with the fight set to be held on April 23.

The location is yet to be confirmed, but organisers are hopeful the fight will occur at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane -- calling for the Queensland Government's support. However, they do not secure funds and support in Brisbane the organisers will turn to other capital cities, and haven't ruled out the U.S. or the Middle East.

On Wednesday, Horn told reporters he'd grown up watching Pacquiao and knows his style well, but he's seen some weaknesses in the Filipino during recent fights.

"I've fought all over the world as an amateur and I've had a lot of fights against some top fighters as an amateur and pro. I've only had 17 fights and Pacquiao has had 67 but I think I've got the skills to win," Horn said.

"It's my time. I'm getting Pacquiao at the right moment."

I'm sick of hearing how this is Australia's biggest ever boxing match.

Jack Johnson won the world championship in Sydney. Which is one of the most historically important moments in all of sport not just boxing.

Jeff Horn is one of the best fighters I've seen. He has better skills than Mayweather hits hard like a light heavyweight and has
one of the best chins in boxing.

Easy win for him against aging Pacman

I've seen very little of Horn, but he'd instantly turn into one of the biggest stars in Aussie Boxing history if your bold prediction turns out to be true.

Nothing disgraceful at all about it.

Pacquiao has given so much to boxing, taking on and beating fighters much bigger than himself for years. He gave us many exciting performances against the best opponents available at the time (Morales, Cotto, etc).

He's 38 and should fight whoever he wants now.

He's not the focal point of the division anymore. This is what I'd call the victory lap portion of his career where he's making some money off of his stardom a few more times before he calls it a career.

I figure we probably will see Pac in at least 1 more major fight before it's all said and done be it Crawford or Lomachenko, but even if we don't it shouldn't be held against him at this stage of his career.

Jack Johnson's historic achievement was huge at the time and paved the way for Joe Louis, Muhammed Ali, Mike Tyson etc..

I think when they talk about 'biggest fight ever' they are referring to the money involved and the worldwide notoriety of Pacman.

The fight is a mismatch, but Pacman has earned the right to the odd easy payday once in a while.

This world tour could be an interesting idea, I wonder if we will see him in the UK fighting the winner of Khan/Brook?

What a horrible fight. This can't be Manny's idea. I think that Arum is trying to squeeze every last cent out of Manny in the final moments of his career. No one will buy this fight on PPV outside of Australia and Philp. I've honestly never even heard of this guy. He may be great for all i know but Manny has nothing to gain by beating this guy.

Manny should only be fighting big fights now and he should be paired with a money maker most fans know.

Who is going to buy this fight? Anyone not a fan of Horn or lives in Australia?

Randall Bailey said that chin wasn't that hard to crack. Bailey would have handle Horn in prime vs prime fight this dude has no wins to deserve this fight.
