Anothe ex mitchell opponent for hatton, surely the MEN wont sell out for this one??

According to a press release both allegedly and Ricky Hatton will be on hand tomorrow in England to Announce OFFICIALLY Ricky Hatton's Next opponent. UNOFFICIALLY, Boxingtalk has learned that the IBF has very recently agreed to sanction Ricky Hatton vs Mike "No Joke" Stewart for its No. 1 ranking at Jr. Welterweight and the fight is rumored to be happening in early October

Suppose its a move in the right direction if he does actually pursue the IBF title.

I take your point on going down the IBF route, but what makes you think he'll challenge for the IBF title? rankings don't mean shit. There will always be some fornicating reason why Hatton doesn't get the big fight. Cotto will challenge Mitchell before Hatton ever gets to.

What sell more PPV in the USA? Hatton vs Mitchell or Cotto vs Mitchell?

Now maybe im getting cynical here but...

yet again talk of another big fight falls through for hatton. everyone is blaming it on everyone else. next thing we know he's being lined up to fight a guy he should beat easily. in front of his home crowd at the MEN. is it just me or has this fight been made remarkably quickly after the harris bout falling through?

its almost as if there was no real expectation in the hatton camp of the harris fight taking place and they had a contigency negotiation thing going on elsewhere...

Well, at least we have the Mitchell/Tszyu rematch to look forward to a month later. That's about the only positive thing I can find to say about this fight - that not long afterward there'll be a *real* light-welterweight fight to look forward to.

Terrible match, Stewart looked like $hit against Mitchell. I think its best not to discuss Hatton from now on until they put him in a serious match his career is going absolutely nowhere at the moment.

What a f***ing pointless match. To secure the No #1 spot in the IBF ratings? When he's already turned down at straight shot at Mitchell? Hatton's career is stuck in a revolving door.

It all seems so pointless. I used to be one of Hatton's biggest fans, I was always talking him up, hell I can even remember making a case fot him beating Tszyu once!

Now I find myself becoming totally disenchanted. I just don't know whether I believe that Hatton is interested in being a real champion any more, I want to be proved wrong.

He says he does, but he wants everything on his own terms, home advantage, purse split, everything. That is not the mark of a real champion, it's the sign of a comfortable fighter who is doing very well for little risk.

I know Harris pulled out of the contest, and he too is guilty, and I can understand why allegedly doesn't want to pay him the excessive amount he was demanding entirely, but the end result of all of this is that once again the fight doesn't happen.

The sad thing is that Hatton seems clearly to have stated that he is not interested in taking a title shot if it means less money than he is used to earning, especially if that means travelling, which makes it unlikely he is ever going to take that last step.

Does he really think that Gatti is going to fly over to Manchester when he can sell out Arena's anywhere in the US and do huge numbers on PPV in a non-title bout, let alone a title bout.

Ok so Vivian Harris turned out to be a nightmare to deal with - but FW should've made the Corley match when Hatton was WBO No 1, and he should've made the Mitchell match that was offered on a plate this summer.

Looks like the last train just left Manchester.

Yeah, I think the reveolving door is a Centurion House, Bircherley Green, Hertford.

Stewart was nothing more than a punching bag for Mitchell, which makes him the perfect opponent for Hatton at the MEN which will still be sold out full of blue moon chavs.

No Corley fight was made for WBO belt.

No Mitchell fight was made for IBF belt.

No Harris fight was made for WBA belt.

Turned down Mayweather (apparentley) for WBC mandatory slot?

Witter fight never made.

i think this is an excellent opponent, it provides a yardstick against sharmba mitchell. Isn't that the measurement of a great fighter? Sky have been telling me so...

Perhaps Warren will now feed Hatton Mitchell's scraps as he fed Calzaghe with Ottke's...

I think this will be the first Hatton fight I deliberatly do not watch and I suggest others do the same.

Well it's on the SN website now so that's it. I like the way they talk about getting a shot at Tszyu/Mitchell "in the autumn". Yeah autumn 2005 maybe.

The only good thing about it will be the post fight interview with Warren.

Although No-Joke isn;t the man to do it, Warren needs to be careful: Ricky is not always the best trainer in the world if he is not motivated...

Hattons career is now as pointless as Calzaghe's in my opinion.

it would be great if all fans could boycott this by not going and not watching it on Sky Sports.
