crazy skills vs crazy power

Too early for Davis. He has all the talent in the world, crazy power and speed but his skills need polishing. Now it will be like Lomachenko - Russell, but Loma seems to hit much harder in this weight (comparing to featherweight) because he isn't weight drained.Jip wrote:crazy skills vs crazy power![]()

I think you are right - he will never be as skilled as Loma or Rigo, but he still has a room to improve. Corrales woudn't be a bad choise, but probably they should (and will) match him against Tevin Farmer first. It would be a good learning fight and not risky since Farmer has a good skills but doen't have the power. Interesting thing is that Farmer started to improve very well after working as a leading sparring partner in Lomachenko's camp before the Gary Russell fight.Jip wrote:Boxing Writer wrote:Too early for Davis. to be fully honest, i think davis wont never be a great technician, he should make drastic changes, a trainer with the mind more set on technique and high level sparring partners, which should level up his skills.
as far as strength and raw power, dude can knock anybody out in his divsion, exept loma, cause at that stage its hard to even catch loma with a clean punch. i think wars against vargas, salido or sosa would weaken davis, instead of making him better. he is fresh right now, should like you said focus a litle more on technique, but by the end of year fight loma, maybe only 1 fight against someone athletic in between, like corrales.

Getting outboxed usually doesn't "ruin" a guy. Unless they pull a Pavlik and become a full blown alcoholic because they can't handle losing. In the know 85 wrote:Loma would skill the poo out of Davis at this point! Tank vs Farmer would be a great choice especially since Farmer has called him out recently.Boxing Writer wrote:I think you are right - he will never be as skilled as Loma or Rigo, but he still has a room to improve. Another good example, but Davis is 22, and a world champion already, so being absolutely schooled having already achieved what is usually a career long goal would be shocking for the guy and would definitely ruin the kid in some respects, it's just not a good move all round!Counter-puncher wrote:Lacy Calzaghegilgamesh wrote:Getting outboxed usually doesn't "ruin" a guy. Just sayin
He got the crap beat him out of him pretty badly there though, and wasn't exactly a world beater to begin with.Counter-puncher wrote:Lacy Calzaghegilgamesh wrote:Getting outboxed usually doesn't "ruin" a guy. That was an unbelievable achievement for a 17/18 year old Benitez, however I just looked at Cervantes record on here and he had already failed to win 11 bouts (9 losses and 2draws) before Benitez beat him by split decision, he also had a hugely padded record for such a good fighter!montrealsuper wrote:Wilfredo Benitez was 17 when he challenged and beat all time legend Antonio Cervantes. You want to talk about greatness talk about Benitez. Davis ain't barely proved nothing yet.
How do you know the level of his competition? Just because the names on his record are not recognizable by you or their records were less than stellar it does not mean they were weak opponents - Kid Pambele is a legendary fighter and Benitez beating him at 17 is undoubtedly one of the all time great accomplishments in boxing history -In the know 85 wrote:That was an unbelievable achievement for a 17/18 year old Benitez, however I just looked at Cervantes record on here and he had already failed to win 11 bouts (9 losses and 2draws) before Benitez beat him by split decision, he also had a hugely padded record for such a good fighter!montrealsuper wrote:Wilfredo Benitez was 17 when he challenged and beat all time legend Antonio Cervantes. I know Cervantes record of opposition was shite, because he fought 53 fights before coming up against just an ok record of an opponent and got ko'd in that, and was previously beaten by Nestor Rojas 3-3-1, heliodora pitalua 9-8-0, victor cano 11-6-0, cipriano zuluaga 3-6-0 twice, plus two draws with Reynaldo Lopez 3-8-0, and another draw Milton Mendez 3-4-0, like in his 55th fight he fought a guy with a record of 1-1-0. Your really going to tell me his opposition was in any way decent??? C'mon I could continue but can't be bothered to, go and look at Cervantes boxing record, one of the most padded records in "history". "Best accomplishments in boxing history"montrealsuper wrote:How do you know the level of his competition? What are you going to do about it?? Nothing! I don't need to watch a guy fight that has a shockingly bad record to know that he's shite, you effing drip... Records don't lie. Anyone with any knowledge can look at Cervantes record and see that "it's heavily heavily padded" and " he's lost to some really bad fighters".. Go one stevie wonder have a look yourself.montrealsuper wrote:Like you know the guys Cervantez beat on his record and you saw their fights lol - Floyd would have ducked Cervantes and fought a weaker belt holder - Benitez beat a living legend ATG at 17 dont even other to try to discredit what Benitez did -
You don't know anything about the fighters he lost to except looking at their records - lots of tough underrated unknown fighters out there - Cervantes was a boxing great and he's in Canastota YDKSAACIn the know 85 wrote:What are you going to do about it??
