britain have had nothing 2 shout as far as the olympics go in the last 30-40 years.all of a sudden 1 of our 2 representatives,comes back wiv a gold medal.achieving 1 of the greatest prizes u can in the ring.what does the majority of the british public do,giv him 10mins of praise then stab him in the back.calling him fraudly and audrey.thats noway 2 treat our olympic champ.i think every1 should giv him a chance,cos im sure he'll come good in time

He may do but his '10' minutes has lasted over 3 years.

And he hasn't fought a top 5 British heavyweight yet.

His big mistake IMO was leaving the states. He went over there after that fiasco in bethnal green (with his and Hide's supporters fighting) goes over to America and has to fight average fighters because he is not that well known to start with, he starts to get noticed particularly around the time of his win over Nix. He then comes back to saying he needs to sort out some "domestic rivals", he fails to make matches with any of these partly cos he can't work with Warren (which I don't blame him for I wouldn't want to either), but it beggs the question of why he came back when he knew Williams, Skelton and most other people are all with Warren. If he'd stayed in the states he could be fighting decent level american oppostion rather than the Richel Hersisas and Thomaz Bonins of this world.

I seem to recall that Warren signed them all up, AFTER Audley made his intentions to fight them all clear....is my memory failing me?

That is true I had forgotten that, it's just fustrating to see Harrison now going back to America after having achieved nothing here. Surely he could have fought better quality European oppostion who weren't signed to Warren than what he ended up fighting (or am I being a little unfair). I just hope that if he is now going back to the states to fight, he will start to take a step up in opponent more quickly than he has done so far. I like Audley but as we all know if this is to happen his career from know on needs to be sorted out.

The only reason to come here was to make a noise beating up his domestic rivals, there's no point fighting european unknowns, who aren't even known by most people in this country, when he can go to America and do the same, or take on the lower tier contenders.

Whatever he does, he'd better do it quick...

You know I honestly believe Harrison hit a rich vein of form in Sydney and, as we know, form is temporary.

No its not.

IMO the reason Frank was unwilling to put pen to paper for the Skelton fight is because he knows Audley is at a loose end at the moment (after them useless bastards at the BBC pulled the plug on the boxing-but thats another story) and he didn't want to be help Audley in anyway at all, so he just pissed him about until Audley had to move on. Frank seems to have a great knack of being able to get out of fights and blame it on the opposition.

Ever since Audley turned down Frank Warrens offer to promote him he has gone out of his way to hinder Auds career, which ultimately means the fans lose out.

Audley gets alot of unfair criticsm, especially about his level of opposition (which is better than virtually any other first 17 opponents) but as Topman says he will come good as he is a determined man

And now he has the nerve to say that after beating Tyson, Danny "La Cucaracha" Williams is finally worthy to face him - what a frickin' joke.

It's *that* kind of pompous utter rubbish that gets him stick, not any sort of "unreasonable expectations" on the part of the fans. It is unreasonable to expect an Olympic gold medalist (especially one who talks that arrogantly) to be fighting more than crap opposition (which by any world-class standard it's been) 4 years into his pro career?

Stop ya whingin man. He did ave glory wen he returned from the Olympics and ppl are knowledgable enuf to know that a boxer, new to the Pro game, needs a certain number of build up fights. But there's build up and then there's extensive padding and Audley has fallin into the second group. Erik the Viking is spot on wiv his observation concerning Audley who now arrogantly views Danny Williams a 'worthy' opponent. He should slap himself stupid that he hasn't been courageous enuf to step to the plate yet.

Ricky Hatton isnt an olympic gold winning heavyweight though, expectation is higher at an early stage for Audley than anyone else. Although im sick of his opposition too, i back harrison but my support of 'all mouth, no action so far' Harrison is flagging

this is what i always say here. a 32 year old guy is no prospect or talent and regarding his opponents is another reason why i say that he is overhyped here on boxrec.

Audley can't demand diddly after his last soporific performance. He looked distinctly average. He's got to take part and win a 50-50 fight against a decent fighter. From what I've seen, the man's got an inflated opinion of himself.

Great performance in the Olympics, but that means jack when you're three years into your pro career and haven't even boxed for the British title.

Audley would probably fall into a coma if he tried to put together the amount of power punches that Danny Williams did a couple of weeks ago.

Anyways I thought Krasniqui was gonna fight Brewster according to you. Lets see if Luan has made a mandatory defence by the end of the year and then comment on the mighty Krasniqui.

Audleys comments were on the whole congratulatory. Every time Danny got near a TV camera he had to have a pop at Audley to try and raise his profile and Audley said that Danny has has now got worldwide recognition on his own accord. He NEVER said that "Danny is now worthy to fight him"

I see he is being criticised for not fighting for the British title. Audley, Danny and Sprott were signed for the BBC, Audley announces that he will be looking to fight for the British title in the next 6 months, Danny and Sprott sign for SN , Audley gets criticised?????????

Audley was also desperate to fight Skelton, so that he could win the British title and have a farewell fight before going to America, but allegedly refused to put pen to paper and to back up his verbal promises.

People keep criticising Audley for his standard of opposition, but I see you make NO comparisons to other current prospective heavyweights, why is this??????? It is because Audleys standard of opponents for his first 17 fights is better than anybody elses who is around at the moment. Why is Audley judged with one set of guidelines and everybody else with another?

How can you criticise Audley for not progressing as quick as Lennox, Lennox is the greatest HW of the last 30 years IMO. Are you also going to criticise Audley for not punching as hard as David Tua or for not having a jab as good as Larry Holmes' or because his chin isn't as good Oliver McCalls or because he isn't as quick as Muhammad Ali

As much as I take your points on point Chambers I think you under-estimate British boxing fans.
Audley gets stick from boxing fans because of the standards he has set and not yet lived up to. No-one expects him punch like a young Tyson or jab & move like Lennox but when a boxer builds up the hype themselves then they are responsable for delivering the goods.
By that I mean looking convincing and showing off your talents against semi credible opponents.

If I had to judge him AS A BOXER I would say he is slow, lethargic, predictable and punches like a middleweight.

He has not shown even a glimer of the world class he readily boasts he has in abundance.

at the moment, Luan has more chances to get a fight. i don´t know why this Meehan-guy got the fight. now it seems that Luan goes for Hoffmann in October if Kohl and Sauerland can agree on the conditions. maybe this will be his last EBU-fight. actually all other 3 champions are managed by Don King, so it´s nor easy to get one fight. King knows that Luan is dangerous for his fighters.
