Tyrone Nurse is looking to move on from the British title

British Champion Tyrone Nurse has been guided throughout his career by his father and trainer, Chris Aston. He told Ringnews24.com:

“I started going to an actual boxing gym (at the age of) about 10 or 11. Obviously my dad, being who he is, I always trained a bit of boxing. It was just more messing about and a bit of fun with my mates from about seven, eight or nine. We put gloves on and it was like a little Royal Rumble, five or six of us just fighting each other. I didn’t really properly get into going to the gym and training until 10-11.“

Nurse had a good amateur career and started to realise he could have a career in boxing but, he didn’t have any expectations. He explained:

Really nice guy and easy to talk to. We had a good chuckle when I asked him why he licked his glove during the fight in round 9

Hope you enjoy the interview guys.

“But, now I’ve signed with Warren and he’s got the big BT Sport deal. I think he’s looking to put us into different opportunities and move us on. I don’t want to sit on the British to win it out right if I don’t need too I can come back to it. I’m still young enough to come back to it if all else fails.”
Unless he is getting a world title shot then why does he need to drop the British title?

probably to avoid taking a tough mandatory defence

He's not going to do much above British level IMO.

i'll answer both of those ill informed comments, he may have to step aside from the british, as none of the so called "tough mandatory defences" are happening. jack catterall and ohara davies to name two, who i think fit the "tough" bill, have both avoided fighting tyrone after being mandated by the board!!!! [you can check this at bbbofc notices section]

Why would that necessitate vacating the British title?

Just checked Ohara Davies pulled out.

IMO Nurse should be given the belt for keeps he has one mandatory defense to win outright and two have pulled out.

Errrm, he's a boxer, hasn't fought since july because people who have been mandated for the BRITISH TITLE keep pulling out!!! so if he wants to box, [which i know he does] he might have to look elsewhere for now. and as he has just been quoted as saying come back to the british at a later date!! or do you think he should just wait, however long that may be, until someone who is mandated actually does decide they will get in the ring with him and fight for the british title?

As I've said before the board should give him the belt for keeps. Two unbeaten fighters Catterrall and Ohara Davies have clearly avoided him.

He has had two defences and needs 1 more which must be a mandatory.

How does having mandatory challengers pulling out against him stop him from fighting?

It's all a load of rubbish.

Why can't his promoter arrange fights for him whilst he's waiting for a mandatory challenger to actually fight him?

Stop talking rubbish.

Like he's just got to sit around waiting for his mandatory challenger, unable to fight anyone else in the meantime.

Could he not have fought a voluntary or taken an international 10 rounder. As far as I'm aware he's dropped the title, not been stripped? Happy to be correct if wrong though?

Has he actually dropped it yet?

I don't think he has the power to go much further, even though he is skilful and game, never know though could nick a Euro title depending how they match him.

We've all seen how easy it is to pick up one of those belts.

Look at Burns at 140 di Rocco was useless

majority felt relikh won the following fight . relikh before fought absolutely no one.

Nurse at 140 could beat Burns IMO.
