Ok, this has been tried several times before... and after a while people seem to lose interest and the threads quietly fizzle out. But I thought, we could give it one more try.

So if you guys have a fun/interesting/strange trivia question, that you think other posters might get a kick out of trying to answer... well, how about posting them here? And you don't even have to know the answer yourself... it could simply be something you have been wondering about. Like who did something for the first time, the most times, the last time, over how many years/decades, strange/impressive streaks, etc., etc.; the possibilities are endless... and then we can see, what other posters can come up with.

And let's try not to have too many questions going at the same time - or it will be too confusing.
Also, how about making the questions red, so it's easy to spot a new one, when you scroll down a page.

I don't know, if this will catch on, but there's no harm in trying... so I'll kick it off with the first question:
Which world champion suffered the most knockout (ko/tko/rtd) defeats BEFORE becoming champ?

Not as easy as I thought it would be. Without putting too much into it, all I came up with was 5 stoppages by Mike Weaver prior to winning. Something tells me there is a lot more out there.

Yes, the injury-prone Minter is another good guess... but 6 is still not enough.

Archie Moore had 4 stoppages and 2 DQ losses prior to his late title win

But I will say, that he's not some obscure champion, only a few hard-core fans have heard of. He's in fact a HOFer... and he was stopped 10 times inside the distance, before winning a world title.

Damn, I thought I had it with Juan Zurita, having been stopped 8 times before winning the title. 10 times huh? Back to the drawing board.

No - neither of them.

Apparently this is more difficult than I thought!

As said, the man we're looking for is a HOFer. But despite this he's not being discussed very often, not even in History forums like this - unlike the HOFer he defeated for the title!

I was thinking there along the lines of Jimmy Bivins or Joey Maxim...

But when I checked their records they didn't suffer 10 stoppages in their careers, so it couldn't have been either of them.

So just to break that down a bit, both men have to be:

Americans
Carrying an Undefeated record (going in to the fight)
Reigning World Champions
Both carrying a belt (s) to the ring.
