My Take on the GGG/Canelo situation

casual fans, who follow media want ggg against canelo, so do i want. many think this is the best boxing to be made around middleweight, now my take. my take is that golovkin against jacobs is a better fight than what golovkin against canelo. sometimes there is a difference between what financiely and what skill wise is, the best fight. quick example: money wise, de la hoya vs mayweather was the best fight to be made, skill wise it would have been mayweather-margarito or mayweather-williams, u get my point, good.

canelo is a 5'9 slow 154 boxer with a ko ratio of 68 %, jacobs is a 6'0 athletic middleweight puncher with a ko ratio of 88 %. what i am saying is, jacobs is more dangerous for ggg than what canelo is. jacobs punches harder, moves faster and is naturaly bigger than canelo cause he is a middleweight.

i want the canelo ggg fight too, but i am happy with what we got.

Very hasty comparison.

1. Canelo probably weighs the same as Jacobs on fight night.
2. While Canelo is slower than Jacobs, he isn't slow at all
3. Canelo is proven against much better competion than Jacobs
4. If Canelo had Jacob's opponents, results would be the same plus Pirog. Can't see Canelo losing to Pirog.
5. Between the two, I predict Canelo having the better chin
6. KO ratio is misleading because of the level of opponents.
7. I can see Jacobs losing to Lara.

who did canelo fight?

old mosley
old cotto
limited angulo
limited kirkland
mr. no chin' khan

ones canelo fought a level opponent who prime or in very good shape he lost, not only lost, but lost like every single round. to me, he lost every single round to floyd and lara, maybe he had some 10:10 rds with lara, but there was no single round in 24 rounds with those elite guys where he convincingly won 1 clear round, not one.

piroq would have &/()&)/(%/( canelo badly :OhYes:

looks jacobs beat nobody besides quillon, but that doesnt matter, quillpn would beat canelo.

Canelo would beat Quillen. I don't think Quilllen is any better than Trout. He just was lucking to get an old Winky and hold on to the belt without any real challenges.

to be honest. its hard to say, but those guys a natural middleweights, tall, athletic, power punchers. canelo is 154, also he ballons in weight after fights. we ll see. i still say jacobs a tougher opponent for ggg than canelo

I've wanted to see Jacobs ggg for a long time but Canelo ggg is the better fight imo. I feel Jacobs will be back peddling, trying to pot shot g, stick and move style whereas Canelo can't move nearly as well which will result in bigger fireworks.

Hype sometimes makes for a great event, for any sport. The Hype around Canelo and GGG would be huge. I'd buy that fight

Golden Boy and Oscar will go down the drain if Canelo loses - Canelo brand is about 90% of all of GBs revenues - thus Canelo will be protected from losing - Kirkland will get the script and all of the handpicked patsies will get their scripts - all the previous patsies knew their scripts post Floyd of course - GGG will never be allowed to beat Canelo - Canelo will make millions and millions for WBC HBO Golden Boy and everyone else who knows whats up -

A few points:

- Canelo is listed as 5'9" but is actually more like 5'7.5", he looked shorter than Mayweather
- Canelo may be slow-footed, but he has fairly quick hands, definitely quicker than GGG
- Jacobs may cause GGG more problems with his offense, but I see Canelo's body punching as being a potential weapon against GGG. Then add in Canelo's stronger chin and I feel he is arguably just as tough an opponent.

In reply to IKSRTFO's points:

1. Agreed
2. His feet are a bit slow, but otherwise agreed
3. Agreed
4. On the contrary, I can't see a healthy Pirog losing to Canelo, barring a robbery
5. Canelo definitely has the better chin
6. Agreed, though I'd say Jacobs is the harder puncher and more offensively dangerous fighter
7. Interesting matchup, I lean towards Jacobs, but could see Lara winning

Many signs indicate the fight between Canelo and GGG can happen but both have obstacles in their way, Canelo's path is easier it's 1 fight against Chavez Jr,

Odlh hasn't got the bottle to make the fight and I doubt canelo has the bottle to sign the dotted line
