Haye labels Bellew a 'bully'

David Haye has labelled Tony Bellew a 'bully' and I wonder how much truth there is in this? I don't know Bellew myself and sometimes I like him and sometimes he irritates the hell out of me but I do enjoy watching him fight.
My point is that I've heard (from my best friend's wife's family who are from Liverpool) that Tony was a d**kh**d during his childhood and teenage years and they indicated he used his boxing skills outside of the ring unnecessarily. They also suggested he isn't too well liked in Liverpool but I don't know if that is just hear say.
Anyone add anything to this?

Bellew doesn't strike me as a bully, because he will take on anybody.
Bullies only pick on those they know are weak & usually fold like newspapers when folk fight back.
Bellew openly says that whoever lands first is gone, so he knows what threat Haye potentially represents & he's still prepared to step up to the plate.

I think your definition of bully is off.
Just because someone will fight people who are as big as them and are a threat wouldn't excuse their behaviour if they were attacking people who aren't.

He's definitely a bully. He loves coming across as a "hard man" and thug.
He bottled it when Stevenson caught him. He literally gave up in the corner and stopped fighting, indicative of how a bully reacts to being bullied.

No idea what he was like when he was young. Anyone I know who has met him have said nice things. Will stop and have a chat if you ask for a picture, is very friendly etc. Maybe having kids matured him as it does for most people.

I honestly don't know.
The only thing I will add that if he has been a bully when he was younger it is entirely possible that he has changed in adulthood.
Most of us have been pricks at some point but the ageing process usually dulls that down somewhat. There are some who remain pricks all through life and it's whether Bellew fits in to that category or not.

Know a fella from wavertree who said he was very loud as a kid and surrounded himself with wronguns.
Said one of his brothers is gay and is the complete opposite of him,a nice fella by all accounts.
Think bellews moved out of liverpool now any way sure he's in ormskirk by paul smith.

He can come across well at times but who knows?
He claims to be a warrior who will fight anyone, won't take shite off anyone etc etc, but I suspect he has never pulled up Tyson Fury on some of the things he said about Bellew in the past!
He strikes me as being willing to fight anyone in the room type, providing he knows what everyone in the room is capable of.

Is that the equivalent of cockneys who go on about loving it where they are from yet fornicate off to Essex as soon as they get a few quid?
Boomer strikes me as a typical loud mouth bully - probably 90% of the population would back off from a 6 foot 3 bloke screaming and shouting.
When I was working in Liverpool years ago (when Boomer first turned pro) one of the lads described his dad as a local bully, but don't know how true it is?

Talking about how some one was in childhood/teenage yrs is just petty and fickle if you ask me
People grow up, people change , whether bellew chucks his weight around from time to time or not, he's never really done anything too out of order I suppose as it would be all over the papers
I enjoy watching him fight , I enjoy how he is a straight talker , couldlnt care about much else to be honest , what he is or isn't like out side the ring makes no odds to me

To me, he comes off as being the kind of bloke to give you a proper hiding if you spilt his pint, or accused you of looking at his bird.
You get lots of really tough boxers who I think would be really good chaps outside the ring. Unfortunately I don't include Bellew in at category.

Oh come on, printing shirts with beheaded opponends, challenge Fury several times and every single time blow it off in the end and now Fury says he doesn't fight Daffy any more, Daffy says he wants to fight him. Accepting the fight against Briggs, but in the end, duck him as well and challenge a cruiserweight and call that cruiserweight a bully! Briggs fought for free in his last fight and Daffy walked away with the money.
Daffy is as sad as it can be, and probably the biggest bully in the division together with Deontay Wilder.

He has all the traits of a bully. Aggressive with little provocation, mouthy, but takes a back seat when he faces a superior fighter. Like Stevenson. Or watch his reaction when Haye belted him with on the quickest counters I ever seen. He lost his bottle and resumed his verbal assault from a safe distance.

To be fair haye does have a point. Bellew if he is in close fight tried to pull the macho man by leaning in etc.
Only times it has back fired is when haye clipped him and Stevenson pushed back.

Pretty much this.
A lot of people will enjoy it once Haye lands clean on him.
