While I originally applauded the ambition of Danny Williams and his team in matching him up vs Maskaev, I have read (and surprised it hasn't been mentioned here) that this is for the vacant WBU title.

I don't want another Hatton scenerio? But I can now see it happening, why make it for the title - what has Kandelaki done wrong.

I personally think these issues need to be investigated more thoroughly, on the one hand we have Eamomn Magee who is still the WBU champion decide originally announcing his retirement. Kandaleki has been fighting but yet has his title reliquished.

But thats by the by, I really do fear that we will have another Hatton, Williams doesn't have the time for this - why for the belt? The fight doesn't need a belt.

I suspect Williams will not stand for the WBU rubbish that Hatton has, he seems wise to Warren to me and will be off and considering his options if Frank tries to pack out the York Hall with a Williams-James Gaines fight in defence of his WBU title.

Only hope your right, although I didn't think Hatton would have still been WBU champion, the guy always talked like he meant business and is a boxing historian. Why wasn't he prepared to take a pay cut to fight Harries, the total purse was more than enough, Harries just didn't like the percentages.

When Williams tallies up something like 4 defences of the WBU title against anybody = the same as a major risky fight with Klitchko financially, he to (like Calzaghe and Hatton) might take the first option.

When I discussed this fight on another forum, one poster (who knows his stuff) believes that Williams is likely to be earning more for Maskaev than he did for Tyson.

Wouldn't it be dreadful if Danny lost?
