I was wondering which boxer had the toughest (on paper) pro debut in terms of wins on their opponents record at that time - Evander Holyfields 1st pro opponent had a record of 9-1-2?

Just found Nigel Benn with 16-10-0

Yeah has to be Rademacher fighting the reigning heavyweight champ in his first fight.

He knocked Patterson down and then was knocked down seven times himself and stopped in the 6th.

Vasyl Lomachenko - pretty tough opponent to start with.

If we're only interested in the number of wins a debutant has been up against - then Johnny Cunngingham had the toughest first fight ever, as he faced a man with 330 wins under his belt!

If we're talking world champions, Fred Apostoli's debut opponent had 45 wins - and David Haye's 41.

You had a question mark on that. And....... yup! Patterson good! Of course he was. But I hope you don't overrate him. Some unexplcidly do over rate him. Though, with his limits he did very fair.

Little pug, that boxer by name is Hasim Razzaq. Wow what a rough road they put him thru! McCallum then 27, 20-0 with 18 KO. They fought at Cobo Hall in Detroit. Not only..bout is SCHDULED 10 round. KO by 1 loss kinda predictable.
That boxer went 0-4, KO by 4 times. But..the record is deceptive. In his four he fought in Detroit, Nashville, Baltimore and Atlanta. His results were improving. 2'd bout boxed a 14-4-1 Darryl Fuller. Third goes with 4-2-0 guy D J Turner and that final goes in against 17-1-1 boxer lost KO6 (0).
Hilmer Kenty 25-2 by then..also fought on the McCallum-Razzaq bill! Welterweight by then..& his whole career played out over six months time span. Age unknown. Must of been good reason they put him in again and again facing tough cats!

Pernell Whitaker fought a guy 11-0 in his pro debut.
David Reid fought a guy 10-0.
Odlanier Solis fought a guy 32-7
Naoya Inoue fought a guy 16-4-1.

Oleg Maskaev might have had the toughest assignment. He fought a 21-0 with 15 KOs guy who was an Olympic bronze medallist and was 1-1 with Riddick Bowe in the amateurs, Aleksandr Miroshnichenko.

I find that Patterson is often underappreciated due to his crushing loses to Liston.

And nope, I wouldn't put him in my top 10 (where Marciano & Foreman are safely in my top 4).

Lomachenko fought Salido in his 2nd fight mate, I think the fella who he fought 1st was called Jose Ramirez

Yep, Ramirez was 25-3 at the time and it was a 10 round fight (which Lomachenko ended in the fourth.

There was some other guy who fought for a World title in his pro debut back in the 70ies I think...I believe it was a scam in some way.
