Frank allegedly has in recent months confirmed B0xnati0n are likely to do 2 or 3 PPV shows in 2017. Under the deal with BT Sports I'm wondering if there is some devil in the details.

BT have confirmed the following in their FAQ's about B0xnati0n:

"Will I get access to B0xNati0n's pay-per-view events?
B0xNati0n's pay-per-view events are not included within the BT Sport pack. You'll need to pay for them separately."

On the B0xnati0n website they continue to confirm the following in their facts section:

"We'll never ask subscribers to pay-per-view to watch fights"

I suspect there is going to be a sting in the tail. I think that those who subscribe to B0xnati0n directly via B0xnati0n will get any future PPV's included in their monthly subscription. Those who cancel their current subscription and get the channel through BT Sports pack will no longer be classed as a B0xnati0n subsriber and will not get the PPV events.

It's long been suspected that B0xnati0n have around 80,000 to 100,000 subscribers. How many of those already have BT Sports or might consider switching to the BT Sports pack? Let's just say a few months into this new deal realistically how many people will be subscribing via B0xnati0n directly? 30,000 to 40,000? I don't think it would be worth B0xnati0ns time to piss off such a small number of long standing loyal customers by insisting they would also have to pay to watch the PPV's. The target audience for PPV buys is more likely be the 5m+ homes that BT Sport allegedly reaches.

I doubt there will be any PPV shows at least in 2017.

Possibly Tyson Furys return fight or BJS vs. GGG.
They might have 1 this summer just to get into the market, not sure how well it will do however...

this just confuses me more and more. im a long time subcriber to BN through virgin and i dont have the bt sports pack. so can i just keep on watching the fights for 12 quid a month? its the best money i spend every month.

Yeah nothing changes at all for those on Virgin Media.

True. It's always been a grey area in regards to Virgin Media customers. Technically they aren't B0xnati0n customers. B0xnati0n have a carriage deal in place with Virgin Media. It's Virgin Media who are B0xnati0ns customer. Virgin Media then sell the channel themselves to their customers. Probably why B0xnati0n is only £11.00 per month on Virgin Media. It's for this reason I can't see Virgin Media customers getting any potential future PPV's as part of their subscription.

Realistically which Bnation mega-star is going to headline a PPV event ?

Can't see this happening , but there again look what ITV are doing .

The biggest name by a mile associated with BN is Fury, but he's not a Warren fighter and his biggest fight was on Sky. If he ends up coming back to fight someone like Helenius I can't see that being a PPV fight; Fury himself doesn't sell particularly well. And if he ends up getting the Joshua fight at some point that'll obviously be on Box Office.

BN PPV is in a weird place. A few years ago you could imagine them showing a non-domestic fight on a PPV platform; from memory I'm sure Mayweather Canelo was a BN fight. Certainly Floyd Maidana was. But Sky seem to have upped that particular game. If GGG Canelo ever gets made that has the feel of a Sky fight after they broadcast Ward Kovalev.

I thought their 'PPV' was basically a way for non-subscribers to grab a fight but not commit to any longer term contract. Or for licensed premises / internet viewers or whatever.

Would you rather pay £12 a month, no contract, cancel any time or pay £17 for a few hours?

Sky's PPV model only works because they hype and market it so well.

I might get BT Sport but if i don't, i'll just subscribe to allegedly for the months in which there are fights i want to see and then cancel until the next month i want.

thing is darkstar, it's almost impossible to do that.

you have to give a month's notice to cancel, and in that time they usually add quite a few fights.

to be fair, it's really good value for money anyway. even in the quiet months they have a few shows on. then you've got buncey's weekly shows, the archive shows (showed herbie hide getting spanked by vitali last night!).

what's 12 quid for all that? I don't bother with football on tv any more cos it got too expensive so ive just got the basic package on virgin with BN on top, really happy with it.

I'm tempted to just stick with BN.

It's about £22 per month - so you'd be paying an extra tenner or so for BT Sport. Alright if you'd watch the Champions League, some Premier League, rugby. UFC etc but if you are not bothered about anything other than boxing I'd stick with what you've got.

If you have a BT Sport subscription I wouldn't bother keeping the allegedly one on top.

The way I understand it:

BT subscription = £22 per month. You get BT Sport 1, 2, 3, ESPN, allegedly

allegedly subscription = £11 per month and you get allegedly

Pay per view fights will be on top, like Sky at some stage in the future.

You don't get anything from a allegedly subscription you don't get as part of the BT package

Surely BT broadband with the sport pack on Sky added on would be cheaper

I've just come out of their broadband, what a terrible, terrible experience

Had BT Broadband for about 10 months no issues, moved from Sky as they dropped our speed and kept putting the price up

A bit more info confirmed today which might sway what you decide to do.

BT Sports customer on SKY TV: From March 1st 2017 – customers who subscribe to the BT Sport Pack on the Sky platform will receive B0xNati0n (SD only) as part of their subscription package. The only way to watch B0xNati0n in HD on the Sky platform is with a B0xNati0n subscription.

BT Sports customer on BT TV: From March 1st 2017 – customers who subscribe to the BT Sport Pack on the BT TV platform will receive B0xNati0n (SD & HD) as part of their subscription package.

So SKY customers who switch to BT Sports to get B0xnati0n at no extra cost will lose access to the B0xnati0n HD channel. This is why I suspected there would be devil in the detail. As stated in my previous post BT confirmed that B0xnati0n PPV's will not be included with the BT Sports packs. The B0xnati0n HD channel on SKY is the one B0xnati0n will be using for their PPV events going forward. I strongly believe those who subscribe directly to B0xnati0n, on the SKY TV platform, will get future PPV's on the B0xnati0n HD channel included as part of their £12.00 per month subscription.
