There's 4 world title fights this weekend,3 of which look like potential FOTY candidates going in but I reckon this one could just sneak it for all out action,2 Mexican bangers going at it toe to toe

Vargas doesn't seem to have boring fights, the Muira and Salido fights were outstanding,i thought he was unlucky to only get a draw against Salido but seeing as he's a known drug cheat I wont lose any sleep over it, the only time I seen Berchelt was the Jupp fight and he was levels above George that night, I remember him seeming to have it all, great jab,upstairs/downstairs,hooks,crosses, pretty much every punch in the book with a good engine and power, obviously Vargas is a big step up from Jupp but I think he has more about him than Vargas, although he has been done in a round before so his resistence might let him down as Vargas can bang too

Pretty hard to judge but I hope Berchelt can win

Miura vs Roman on the under card could be a FOTY contender too...and the winners have to meet later this year...

Must say the SFW division isn't one I'm particularly up to speed on, hope to learn a bit from these fights

Was going to mention this as it will go under the radar due to the showtime card.

This could well be the best fight of the weekend.

Anyone who has not seen berchelt fight watch his last two. Offensively he looks quality and if he has a chin I fancy his chances of stopping Vargas.

Miura Vs Roman lived up to expectation, Vargas and Berchelt is a belter through 7!

Very good fights both, the challenger Berchelt looks ridiculously heavy handed at times

I thought he was still well in the fight, you could argue it should have been stopped because of cuts though.

The cuts and the swelling should have had the fight stopped, Vargas looked like he was "in it" but just, and was falling further and further behind on the cards. Problem was the way he turned it around Vs Miura, and that was maybe in the referees mind

Agree with a couple of posts that should have been stopped earlieri would say after the 9th Berchelt was really pasting him.

I did call a Berchelt win before this and he proved he is world level. His combination punching was spot on and can change from body to head shots well.

The Miura Roman fight should have been stopped after that body shot. Roman took unnecessary punishment after that and was never close to winning the fight. He is a tough guy and Miura can bang he landed some straight lefts in the mid rounds which I have seen him floor opponents with.

How Roman got up from that body shot is a myster, can't understand the Raul Caiz Sr score-card of 104-103, for Miura, going into round 12 given the two 10-8 rounds

The way miura bangs in that left uppercut to the body gives me involuntary man-gasms

Was a great fight

Effing tremendous battle from Berchelt/Vargas, It played out exactly as most had predicted or hoped, straight away both guys were wailing away at one another, sitting right down on their punches and it was give and take for the majority of the fight until Vargas's face started to disintegrate, both guys can bang and both guys can take a serious shot AND they have unbelievable engines, whats not to like?

I was rolling my eyes at Haye and Froch with their numerous even rounds in the Santa Cruz/Frampton rematch but there a fair few of the rounds in this fight that could've been even,when 1 guy started well the other guy usually finished well,superb fight and another early contender for FOTY, I seen the ref hovering just before he stepped in, ive no doubt Vargas would've stuck it out to the end barring him getting KOd but it was a good call, if a tad late maybe?

You just cant beat an all Mexican clash,it brings out the best of both men, special shout out to Muira/Roman which was another genuine classic, finally the Super Featherweight division is out the doledrums and theres a lot of potential stars and match ups

One of the best fights with no knock downs that I've ever seen. Both deserve great credit.

Salido, Miura, Vargas, Martinez etc are fighting wars with regularity at super featherweight and kind of remind me of the Chacon, Limon, Boza Edwards and Rolando Navarette fights.

I prefer those '80s fighters but there are some similarities.

Interesting to see Salido move from featherweight wars with JM Lopez prior to his 130 brawls with Martinez (twice) and Vargas just as Bobby Chacon had a belter of a fight with Danny Lopez then went on to the rivalries with Boza and Limon (the 4th fight) he's best remembered for.

Miura, interestingly, has some tremendous wars on his resume back in Japan, two with Yoshimitsu Yashiro and one with future WBA holder Yuseke Kobori, that are well worth seeking out.
