The way the Eubanks and ITV are talking like everything is a foregone conclusion but the lad hasnt even beat a Jacobs, Quinlan type let alone a GGG.
Eubank Snr as usual is acting very smugly and talk of his Andre Ward not being able to live with Jnr is insane. His logic is that Ward doesn't throw enough punches to keep up with his son, what he obviously doesn't realise is that Ward is an expert at shutting down his opponent's punch output.

People fell for the hype once already and he performed poorly against saunders after all the big talk.

Is there really a hype train, outside of the Eubank camp and his most fervent supporters?

I was watching the press conference. Eubank and Quinlan couldn't be more different. Quinlan was so laid back, he appeared more genuine as well. I don't know what it is about Chris Jr outside the ring but I have trouble taking him seriously, he seems to be putting on an act all the time. Although it could also be me reading him wrong, but I prefer the antics of Chris Sr.

Whatever you think of his ability you can't deny Eubank Jr has the "X" factor. The physique, the looks, the style, the arrogance. If marketed and promoted right he could be a huge draw.

Chris Senior is playing the same well-used cards for his son he dealt us all 20 odd years back....

....big, outlandish and brash statements work
...don't fret about being liked; it is being known that sells fights and pays the bills
...throw in some controversy now and again
...work those rivalries with other fighters

It is actually not a bad strategy for Chris Junior - his Dad does all the publicity and he can train and fight - and with boxing being pushed to the margins the one thing that still sells tickets and achieves viewing numbers is a bit of arrogance and character.

Chris Senior himself used to say he had no problem with folk tuning-in hoping to see him get decked...so long as he was getting paid.

It certainly helps the Eubanks that ITV - who have been flirting with a return to boxing for a few years now - think that this father and son partnership is worth investing in. They've been quite cute in selling the Eubank story back to the ITV bosses.

I've said it before this is a master stroke from the Eubanks, people love to hate them and will pay for their demise a lot and often, meaning more money and they will play their parts eagerly the more successful they get. Brilliant

Being watched and disliked only works until a fighter loses. The interest in seeing Broner lose dropped off massively since Maidana beat him, and when CEJ loses again the same will happen.

Not necessarily so I would suggest mate; Eubank Sr did plenty of good business for a few years after losing to Steve Collins for the first time.
In fact by the time he faced Carl Thompson; more than a few folk went from haters into lovers. He was dead brave against Carl.

I think that the trick is not to be an outright and pure A-Star, A-Hole like Broner - Chris Senior always bragged but with a bit of a wink as well and when he lost or got pushed hard he showed a degree of humility - the loathsome Broner lacked the intellect and class to do this.

Correct , Senior did plenty of good business fighting very average fighters .
Only thing is he did it on terrestrial tv backed by ITV which generated good viewing fIgures and most folk knew who he was.
Jnr will fade into obscurity if he carries on fighting very average fighters with lowly PPV audiences.
The public will not buy into it when all said and done on a PPV basis unless he fights the big boys .

Most of seniors fights were on Sky, especially the crap ones.

The biggest fight of his career and he only turned up in the second half of the fight. That is a poor. Almost as bad as Quigg vs Frampton.

I had it 6-6 but we were led to believe that it was a mismatch by Eubank Jr.

He got a reality check that night.

I think he just gets hit too much. He may have inherited a granite chin, in which case he might be able to go all the way but he'll need to be way more active and accurate in future fights if he wants to become the great he thinks he will become.
