Been lurking in the shadows for a while and decided to join up proper, so to start off I thought I'd just ask a simple question;

Who are your favourite young fighters in British boxing, or who at least do you see as potential stars?

Not necessarily fame wise stardom, just those who you expect to reach world level.

I'm relatively new to boxing compared to you's lot no doubt, but I do know some of our top prospects like Selby, Yarde and Taylor, but wanted to see if there were any more you's might know of and I don't!

Have to agree with the three you mentioned. All exciting to watch and skilful in their own way. Myself and HoS have been banging the drum for Taylor for a long time so I'm definitely looking forward to see what this year brings.

I vaguely remember Josh Taylor at the commonwealth games a few year back but he didn't catch my eye as much as Charlie Flynn whose personality shone! But in his last two fights he's been immense, if he had legit power I'm confident you'd see him rule the division...Crawford exempt!

Taylor is very, very special. Easily our best prospect up here in a long time

Agree. It's hard not to get excited about him since we're not exactly rich with top level prospects in the pro ranks up here. Agree. It's hard not to get excited about him since we're not exactly rich with top level prospects in the pro ranks up here. I think he was Stu yeh, he must be decent to beat Selby, even if Selby was having an off day, I haven't heard anything about him since the games

Didn't he beat another highly ranked guy after Selby as well? I'm sure he knocked out both top seeds.

Didn't he beat another highly ranked guy after Selby as well? I'm sure he knocked out both top seeds.

Maybe mate I honestly cant remember, I do mind him being tipped as a cert for gold after the Selby win though, I cant even remember if he medalled, I don't think he did mate??

Must say (accounting for nationalist bias) I'm very excited by Taylor.

Has plenty of ability and a fair dig. Doesn't look the complete package yet and still has learning and developing to do against higher level opponents. But I think being with the right people, both in management and training and getting the exposure he is now, the future looks bright for this one.

I definitely agree with Taylor, looks like a top prospect.

I'm personally looking forward to seeing what Conlan has to offer in the pros.

I thought the Olvera fight turned out to be a very good fight at this stage of Taylor's career and the fact that it went to points will probably bring out the best of him next time, long running KO streaks can be a bit of a burden to some fighters, makes them load up too much and intent to get the stoppage and ultimitaly they neglect their skills

Blood hell are you's all Scots? Brilliant! I've yet to see Flynn as a pro was looking forward to him fighting Kofi Yates back on the Scotland card last year but it got pulled. How's Joe Ham?

Not one mention of Yarde, why's that?
Think if he was with a better promoter he'd be big news, but needs to step up next.

I like the look of Ham. I watched him in the gym when he was still amateur and everyone thought he'd be better suited as a pro. This was a good few years ago now. I'd like to see him stepped up a bit this year. Too many guys from up here in Joes position happy to tread water and fight bum after bum for their unambitious promoter.

Just checked the silver and gold medalists. Muhammad Wasseem the silver medalist is a pro and has a good win over a fellow prospect called Giemel Magramo whom I'd heard of, dunno if I'd read about him or what, but could be one to watch in lower divisions, 5-0 and unbeaten.

Yarde has a dig on him and los the business, but he's not had much opposition yet.

I remember Pele Reid and Roman Greenburg were heralded until someone started punching back.

Yeah. There's no way an experienced promoter like FW signs a 19yr old unknown heavyweight for a six figure sum unless he can really fight. I believe he might've signed him after he chinned Joshua.
