Round-By-Round - Kell Brook vs. Errol Spence - May 27th 2017

If the fight were made today, who wins?
Bit surprised on the 20th of may date that article mentions. Sheff utd flying currently in the league and so likely will get automatic promotion but should things go tits up that's the date for the playoff final for league 1 I think.wesshaw1985 wrote:Brook Spence is on - http://www.BS.com/brook-spence ... ed--113580

Genuine question, is how he deals with adversity a positive for you? I'm not sure it is for me. He didn't really know what to do against Carson Jones when things were going wrong (and he was cut if i remember rightly) and against GGG, he was constantly pawing at his own eye and it completely distracted him.davie wrote:If he makes the weight comfortably and is not damaged by the GGG defeat I'd take Brook.
Both are heavy handed without being devastating, both are talented world level operators. Brooks experience gives him the edge for me and we know how he deals with adversity, I'm not sure we have any evidence of that from Spence yet (that's not to say he will simply crumble of course)
I'm about 70/30 Brook I think but it would be a good competitive fight and should be fairly entertaining

Yeah it may seem a bit harsh on the GGG criticism but it was more that he didn't seem to be able to think of a way out. He just carried on doing the same thing.davie wrote:freddydoesdallas wrote:Genuine question, is how he deals with adversity a positive for you? I'm not sure it is for me. My memory isn't too sharp, did he not just run out of steam against Jones, that wasnpoor preparation more than anything surely and the guy looks like someone that trains like a beast now.
As for GGG, you can't criticise him for that. Pawing at his eye ffs. The man had his eye socket broken and not only chose to battle on against one of the heaviest handed punchers in the game, he kept on fighting and taking it too GGG, the mans heart is not in question when poo goes south.

That said, we haven’t seen him against anyone who looked in much danger of fighting back. Brook sure as hell will, especially in front of his home town fans. He might prove too strong over the distance for Spence, but this should be a great competitive fight.
Brook by late stoppage.
Yep... a good comparison. People have short memories, but there were plenty - including on this forum - that wouldn't countenance Jeff Lacy being beaten before he came over....TheLeprechaun wrote:Yeah Spence looks the part but so did Jeff Lacy.Loftgroov wrote:Spence comes with a lofty reputation - some of it from sparring rumours and also from what we have seen in fights.

"The Yanks do love to hype people up?" Spence is still a virtual unknown in the USA. Until we see what Spence can do against the likes of Brook we really do not know what he can do. Comparing Brook to Calslappy is a real insult to the HOFer, given Brook's (veritable) murderer's row of opponents.Loftgroov wrote:Yep... a good comparison. Spence could be superb but, lets face it, the Yanks do love to hype people up.

I have always liked Brook, and I have given a lot of credit for taking the 3G challenge, but what has he accomplished at welter beyond just getting by Porter? Spence has more to prove but Brook's legacy is not HOF material so far. He has almost as much to prove as Spence does.
Hopefully, the winner can get something done with the winner of Danny v Thurman. A loser's bracket in that regard would be great too.
The UK hypes boxers far more than the USA does these days, btw.
Think you're forgetting about CrawfordTheLeprechaun wrote:Spence would be one of the best americans to come over here. Best since Dirrell and probably much better than Dirrell. He was giving a hiding to Mayweather in sparring.
