Boxing history challenge

Gentlemen, over the last year or so, over on the UK & Ireland forum, we've been watching and discussing/scoring old British fights and this year we opened up another thread for international fights. It has been received with a particularly lukewarm response and I was considering shelving it.
I did consider moving it here as I think there would be more desire to watch old fights each week, discuss them, score them (and argue about them).

Would there be an appetite for viewing a selected fight each week and breaking it down and scoring it on here?

- It could be seen as a more uniform, updated version of post your scorecards, so sure, why not?

All have access to the same video and perhaps someone finds a better video, win/win.

I wouldn't want to step on the toes of 2 long running threads, 2 mainstays of the forum, but they could certainly be used in tandem, to find the great fights we would need to populate it.

But thanks for the feedback

Maybe if you did it in a different way. For example, maybe don't have people score the fight, but but have people rate from 1-10 of how good of a fight it was. (Of course people could still say who how they scored it if they want to.)
If you did this as a poll you would have to start a new Topic each time you have a new fight.

Maybe make it a weekly thing; like every Monday a new fight is featured.
Would probably be best to have a variety of eras and weight classes.

Just some thoughts.

It's been a weekly thing and we've tried to cover different eras, weight classess and nationalities.
Regards the feedback, there's not been any set criteria as such, just general discussion, scoring, discussing the technical side, any history etc. Basically discussing anything you want to about the fight or fighter

It started out as an educational thing as a few were interested in learning about the history
but theres a bit more knowledge (perhaps not wisdom) but certainly more knowledge on the history of the game on this section of the forum, so the discussions would probably take a different slant, there would perhaps be a desire for the more obscure fights that less have seen and I would imagine there would be a better chance of a good argument breaking out

Just finished watching the Hearts game and went upstairs. The wife had fallen asleep and our 3 years old had had a potty training adventure, that could be most accurately described as a dirty protest.

Any suggestion for the next bout?

I'll be posting one every Monday to keep us entertained (give us something to argue about)

Carlos Monzon I'm aware is one of the greatest middleweight ever yet I've never watched him.

That's uncanny

Ive underwatched/under-rated Monzon for a long time

For the last day i've been trying to figure what Monzon fights to post on Monday. Benvenuti I, Briscoe II and Valdez II were front runners
(I'd seen plenty Napoles and Griffith and feel Monzon was probably bigger as opposed to better than these men)

I think the Napoles fight shows that if Napoles was a real middleweight he and Monzon would have a fight for the ages :TU:
