We have Joshua who is 27, Whyte aged 28, Hughie Fury is only 22 (I rate him higher than most, apparently ), Tyson is 28.

Bubbling under them, is there anyone any decent? Is Nathan Gorman any good? That Daniel Dubois kid turns pro soon. Didn't he deck Joshua in sparring or is that a gym myth?

Nick Webb, Kash Ali, the White Rhino , anyone else?

Who was the bloke who fought for the UK in the last Olympics?

And is there anyone at Cruiser or Light Heavy moving up? Yarde?

I appreciate your input. Reading the web is one thing but being in & around the UK Boxing scene is another.

If I could buy stock in any British newcomer right now though it would be Okolie. He will end up a heavyweight eventually ( I think he's 6'5" )
I think he will be a star. World champ within 4 years. Like Joshua, a latecomer to the sport but from what I've seen, he's a more natural fighter.

Joyce will be an interesting addition. He's tough and should win the British. Getting on a bit though and very easy to hit.

Okolie that good? He got stopped in 1 by Savon less than a year ago, but the Cuban is an elite fighter and one of the better punchers in the amateurs.

That Thompson signed by Warren is a very big cruiser, dunno if he's the real deal or what, I like Isaac Chamberlain but he has a lot to learn.

Heard Con Sheehan is well respected.

I personally don't see Anthony Yarde ever being a heavy, seems odd to me.

I'm waiting on Joe Joyce, know he ain't special but if he's as tough as he looks, brings his well regarded stamina to the pro ranks and has good power, I reckon there's an exciting fella there, even at his age. May be a benefit!

I'm surprised Kash Ali gets a mention, he only barely scraped by journeyman Soklowski.

Webb and Gorman - as well as Joyce of course - are the up and comers in my view. Webb can wallop.

Cornish is fighting this month as well against a bloke from Georgia.

Dave Allen could be decent British title level if he gets looked after and not thrown to the wolves again.

He is improving with every fight, only three months later he took Savin the distance at the olympics and landed a few of his own which made the Cuban a tad wary. Savon is elite as you say, very experienced and had previously campaigned at super heavy too. No disgrace in losing to or getting stopped by him.

Maybe I rate him more than most do I just see a potential star there. He was taking world level amateurs apart in Rio.

One of the UK's strongest divisions at present. Joshua and both Fury's are world class, Whyte and Chisora top twenty. Below that Lewison is still a talent and Gorman looks very promising. Allen is a durable pro who will improve and do well at domestic level. Below that Webb can bang and is improving fast and there are some other decent fighters too including Joyce when he turns pro, Dubois, Cornish, Sexton and Akinlade its a fantastic division with strength in depth.
I just hope the promoters get behind the heavies including the new guys and they can all stay active.

With full dedication Akinlade could emerge as force on the British scene, but too soon to say if he could go as far as the current crop of heavyweights we have (in terms of world class or titles).

I wouldn't mind seeing Joyce vs Price NOW. I am not convinced that Price is any better than he was in 2008 - it might sound harsh, but I feel realistic.... I think I would pick Price on his pro debut to beat ANY of his opponents he has beaten at the time he fought them.

Think Joyce has the stamina to outlast Price already, might as well test the chin early.

He has a good chin and good skills, and has got himself in good shape. He's 36 though I think, maybe more

As I said, following the English scene is one thing but it's different when you're several thousand miles away. Which is why I'm asking you lot to tell me who's looking decent or not. I mentioned Ali as he has a decent record but don't know who he actually 'looked' during any specific bouts.

Cornish and Sexton are due to fight for the British title in June. Whoever wins could set themselves up for a nice payday and much bigger fights.

I never thought I'd say this, but after his recent performance, I think Dereck Chisora might have a say in the British HW scene too.

He seems to have finally taken the sport seriously & he's still younger than the likes of David Haye.

I don't think he'd beat Joshua or T Fury (obviously), but he could cause problems for some of the other younger guys if he fights like he did against Whyte.

Gorman's from my neck of the woods so I obviously wish him well; although he seems to be serving a rather long apprenticeship.

I am very keen to see what Joyce brings to the table as well; I like his attitude and fighting style but I do wonder whether he will prove to be a good all-rounder rather than someone with the sufficient power or finesse to be a stand-out contender.

Joe seems to be able to do a bit of everything pretty well - rather than being excellent - but it should be fun to watch.
