If that falls through, he can see if the WBU will allow him to fight for their vacant supermiddleweight title then he can go back to DeGale with even more evidence of why he deserves more moneyclopixolacuphase wrote:Don't forget it's a unification!freddydoesdallas wrote:Eubank jnr prices himself out of the fight because he's a ppv star that needs to be paid
What has Eubank done at middleweight, let alone supermiddleweight that makes you think he could beat a genuine world level supermiddleweight? It's not like he'd cleared up. He's had one test and failed itstujones wrote:Stylwise, I go for Eubank here. I think Eubank has shown since the Saunders fight that any question marks that he is not a 12 x 3 minute fighter should be thrown out of the window. I think he outworks DeGale, who is an odd one - he promises so much but hasn't really impressed in his world title reign.
I'm not saying he's gone backwards - but against Bute and Jack especially, I think most were expecting a "coming out" performance where he takes the division by the scruff of the neck and says "I'm THE champion" - he's not done that. He's won / drawn but each time it leaves you with a question mark about his own credentials.
I think Eubank's chin is too good not to suffer any early issues (issues that cost Dirrell and Jack victories) and his stamina means DeGale will work at a pace he is not comfortable with.
You could have said the exact same thing about DeGale when he fought Dirrell, yet no one dismissed his chances so easily. Its about styles. Personally, had DeGale not got a 10-7 round for Dirrell he wouldn't be world champion. I think Eubank's chin is solid enough and I think he has the work rate to win rounds as Dirrell did in the mid / late rounds of their fight.freddydoesdallas wrote:What has Eubank done at middleweight, let alone supermiddleweight that makes you think he could beat a genuine world level supermiddleweight? DeGale had fought at Supermiddle throughout his career though. Eubank has fought at middleweight against low quality opposition, bar BJS, and now he can add on 8lb and fight one of the best SMW's?stujones wrote:You could have said the exact same thing about DeGale when he fought Dirrell, yet no one dismissed his chances so easily. Also, DeGale Sky Sports fighter/Hearn, Saunders is with Warren/BN so these fights will never happen unless the aforementioned become free agents. GGG is fighting Jacobs next so there is not a lot a lot left for Eubank Jr to cash in on.Nightmare Roy wrote:Never happens, just talk and self promotion, if they wouldn't fight GGG for a reported £4m they aren't going to fight Degale for what will be much less. Degale won't be interested in dealing with them anyway.
To be fair Freddy, he did win 4 or 5 rounds out of the last six in that bout. His previous best opponent had been Bradley Pryce. I think he learnt more against BJS than he had in every other moment of his boxing life, before or since. He may not have won but he showed he had 'something'.freddydoesdallas wrote:What has Eubank done at middleweight, let alone supermiddleweight that makes you think he could beat a genuine world level supermiddleweight? I get that he showed a bit of something in the BJS fight but we also know that BJS isn't the fittest or most dedicated guy and he still won. The first 6 rounds showed just how wild Eubank can be made to look by a good fighter.Taansend wrote:To be fair Freddy, he did win 4 or 5 rounds out of the last six in that bout. Not saying he beats Degale. I have no idea how good James is. Such a fcking enigma. As is Eubank.
The only chance Eubank would have is when Degale takes time off, but I don't think he's good enough to make it matter, Degale has been in there with some decent punchers, and I don't think Eubank punches hard enough to make Degale worry.G0mez wrote:Degale is pretty touch and has a dig on him, plus he is naturally bigger.
Eubank's not got enough pop and would be competitive but Degale's movement and raiding in and out would cause trouble for CEJ.
