each of your opponents has more guts than
you do, sir. they are willing to get in the ring
with a man they can hardly reach, let alone
beat, while you on the other hand cherrypick
your opponents even in your fifth (!) defence
of the once most prestigious tile in he whole
of sports.
this is a disgrace to boxing and do not for
a second pretend to not be intentionally
aware of this.
your record will enter the history books as
a joke. no matter what numbers you might
achieve, they will mean nothing to anybody
who looks just a little underneath your "0"
or your KO-ratio.
you and your team were criticised for too
easy match making and your management
gave amateur inexperience as the reason.
so, are five WBC title fights not enough to
finally become a professional boxer at world
class level taking on world class opposition?

Just a bit redundant, no question Wilder's opposition has been weak but he was fighting Povetkin and it's not like he's the only one. Stevenson is the worst imo.

Wilder needs to be criticized... He was matched with Povetkin, but his backers figured a way to evade the fight with BS accusations and misrepresentation.

It isn't Wilder's fault the fight that Povetkin didn't happen.

well, he turned around and quickly
chose another dangerous opponent.
no more excuses.

I agree with most of this. It's American Boxing these days and as an American, i'm embarrassed. American Boxers will do whatever it takes to get a world title and then do as little as possible to keep it around their waste.
That's the big difference between American Boxing and say, British Boxing. In England, defending world titles and honoring mandatories is just as important as winning the belt initially.

24/7 until he mans up.
whatever. took my pills. all fine
again.

i would think the british public is all
in all more critical and don't let their
darlings get away with everything.

Valid point. Can't argue with it at all. The Brits honor the sport and it's history and Yanks are definitely the problem.

Wilder is a protected fraud who happens to be SLIGHTLY better than seth mitchell - But keeping Wilder undefeated is critically important to Al Haymon whose B side empire stable of protected pretenders totally desperately needs Wilder to stay undefeated - Thus Wilder will continue to be protected and stay undefeated -

Comparing to Anthony Joshua is telling.
Joshua, who himself has fought some dross, has only been a pro for 3 and a half years and he's boxing Klitschko next.
Wilder has been a pro since 2008 and his best opponent is probably a past his best Arreola.

I think Duhaupas was, even though Duhaupas wasn't a real pro at the time, he made post delivery mailboxes as a main job at the time, but became a pro boxer since his unexpected world titlefight on short notice and made a lot of progression since. He really looked like a reasonable boxer against Povetkin.

No question that stiverne is better than arreola. A lot of you thought that was a test until he won easily.

According to the Transnational Boxing Rankings only Stiverne was a rated top ten opponent of Wilders. He was ranked #3 when they met.
Adonis Stevenson has faced Dawson (then champion), Cloud was #6, Bellew #7, Fonfara #5, Bika #8 (at supermiddle), Karpency #10 - nobody else ranked.

I can remember the after fight interview when Wilder won his belt.
When asked about a fight with WK, he responded;
He is getting old and will retire soon.
Or close to that statement.
Well it's been a few years and WK is still around... And Wilder has fought 5 B- graders since then.
We are still yet to see if he can match up with a decent opponent.
Heaven forbid he risks his '0'

i actually do think wilder is a decent boxer,
but the too careful match making may cost
him potential. you do gain no confidence or
experience from fighting bums, but each
such fight takes out real self esteem, cause
of course he knows whom he is fighting and
whom he should.

i have no idea if he can compete on
top level, nobody knows that until
someone enters that zone. some
surprise on the upside (like froch
did) others fail (that's a longer list).
wilder has great natural assets, but
his heart is a big question mark to
me, cause a man with a great heart
wouldn't allow being matched like
that.

You give him far too much credit for whom he fights. The money there hasn't been exorbitant. No matter what message boarders may think of him, a. Top fighter would be insane to fight wilder for short money
