The spectacle of Jones shot and stumbling around has actually outlasted the long run of form he enjoyed from Bernard Hopkins to John Ruiz by several years. Amazing!

He looked untouchable at times. I was a big fan but it's difficult to watch and has been for a long time now. Can only hope he sees sense and calls it a day ASAP before he gets really hurt.

Yea i find it baffling. I mean how much can he be earning from these fights? Surely he could get a TV deal or another role in boxing thats not miles away from the pay and yet maintains his health and legacy. I hate calling for someone to retire from what they love doing, but this is an exception.

This fight is on PPV this evening, but not sure which channel, wont be on in the UK I doubt but if anyone has any info time etc.

Amazingly the best price on Gunn is 7/2 and the worst is 5/2

I mean, really? It was 9/1 when it opened. Jones might be Chinny and shot but apart from beating up roadsweepers in bare knuckle fights Gunn has done nothing.

You can get Jones at 2/7, surely that's a gift

Jones easily beat Bobby Gunn, took it easy on him and stopped him in 8.

I agree and I think that in a bit of a perverse way, keeping getting knocked out means Jones Jr. is LESS inclined to walk away. I mean, who wants to bow out on a run of 7 KO losses?

I agree and I think that in a bit of a perverse way, keeping getting knocked out means Jones Jr. is LESS inclined to walk away. I mean, who wants to bow out on a run of 7 KO losses?

It's demoralising enough being KOd but getting beaten and KOd by guys you know in your heart of hearts wouldn't have been able to live with you in your pomp must set alarm bells ringing surely! I can only assume he's still fighting for money but I'm not sure.

A lengthy article on Jones was posted here a while back. I can't remember its title, or the author, but it was an up close character study written on return from Pensacola. Answered all the questions I had about the man, the main one being: why does he still do it? The reason is, essentially, he's mad.

It’s a paradox isn’t it?
I tend to think it must be to do with cash, rather than boxing being in his hardwiring.
Not sure if he’s been divorced or how many kids he’s got, but that sort of stuff can clean you out apparently.

Even on his name alone, a provincial gym would have seen him very comfortable I’d bet......but I guess that probably doesn’t scratch the itch when you’ve been the undisputed best fighter on the planet before.
