Wasn't he supposed to fight Alvarez? Personally, I haven't even heard about this Monaghan guy who managed to win 28 fights without facing a top 100 (!!!) opponent.

Isn’t Eleider Alvarez already scheduled to compete in the final eliminator against Lucian Bute on the 24th February to determine the mandatory challenger to Adonis Stevenson’s WBC world title?

If so, then what’s the harm in Stevenson performing an interim voluntary defence against an unbeaten top-ten ranked challenger like Sean Monaghan? After all, the WBC, IBF & WBO consider him a legitimate world title contender. And as recently as three days ago, ‘The Ring’ website claimed that Sean Monaghan was being considered as a potential opponent for Joe Smith Jr’s next outing?

Yep, another weak fight

Monaghan is crap, and if someone has actually watched him fight they should know that. There's a reason he's been so carefully matched, and at almost 36 hasnt fought one good opponent.

Guess it's getting time to cash the boy out

What a chump. The worst champion in history. He's going to hold onto the title until he's 55 if they aren't going to make him fight anyone. What a joke. And he'll still run around the ring jumping up and down after knocking this guy out like he's accomplished something big. Can't stand. He's just a novelty piece who fights for chump change in Canada.

How Stevenson has any fans is beyond me, because by I'd be surprised if he has friends.

... He was a good fighter a few years ago when he took out cloud, dawson and bellew. Its only fair that ward / kovalev have the limelight now though.
