Cotto vs Marquez at 147: Tips?

Who do you think wins this at 147?

It probably isn't easy for Cotto to make that weight anymore. It looks like they will make a deal at 147 and even though Marquez is old he's always able to turn up in top condition. I could see this turning out to be a chess match and Marquez actually has a chance.
Previous negotiations were reportedly stalled over weight issues. Since Kirkland has pulled out of the lucrative PPV due to injury Cotto has had to go looking for another opponent.

More reports suggest Cotto is guaranteed a $15M pay day for his next bout & that means he has to fight a big name. In comes Marquez. And negotiations are easier this time round from all reports. Differences on the weight aren’t as big as before.

If Cotto vs Marquez is to happen at 148 or 149 lbs, then we like this fight. What’s not to like? Two ageing older fighters. Both come to fight. Both bring huge fan bases. This could turn into another fun fight between two veterans.

I don't see this being competitive. Cotto, although soundly beaten, won 4 rounds on my card against Canelo and was competitive throughout. That was what, less than 18 months ago? JMM has been out of the ring for the best part of 3 years, has had knee problems, is 43 years old and would be significantly the smaller man. I only see this ending one way - Cotto by KO, possibly an ugly one that a legend such as Marquez doesn't deserve to go out on.

At 147 it'd be competitive, I doubt Cotto would agree to a fight at 147 at this stage of his career. A catchweight of 150 is the best Marquez could hope for I think

I don't think this would be all that competitive, unless Cotto has completely lost it. As stated earlier. Marquez' last fight was when he was 40. He is 43 now. And he would be fighting a much bigger man. This fight would actually depress me.

Name recognition may sell.
Terms of being meaningful at top level is a stretch.

Cotto isn't isn't relevant at top level anymore. Could argue pacquaio isn't even relevant.
