Will Andre Ward honor his contract and rematch Sergey Kovalev?

I don't see it, he now knows that kovalev is the better boxer and he obviously doesn't mind sitting around in dispute. He won't retire for good, but he'll force Sergey to either sit around with him or move on.

Way it's going I think it'll happen 2nd half of the year.
Kovalev has said nothing, Ward went out to the UK and did his thing.
Question is what are the Russians dong ?

Kathy Duva says HBO's preferred date to televise the rematch is the 17th June, so there's still plenty of time to arrange the fight according to that deadline.

Meanwhile Ward claims his lawyer is already liaising with "whoever" he needs to in order to present him with the final deal. And let's not forget that it was only Roc Nation that paid the bulk of the $5m guaranteed purse he earned for the Kovalev bout, with the Russian only earning $2m.

So if the S.O.G. is unable to command similar sums for the rematch than what he earned for the first bout, then Main Events won't even be given the opportunity to negotiate the terms with Roc Nation and Ward. Kathy Duva confirmed this and she also claims that the bulk of Andre’s negotiations would have to be carried out with Roc Nation.

I suspect that negotiations really are ongoing, but with most of the terms already agreed with Main Events, Roc Nation may end up being the stumbling block for this fight not happening, not Ward's perceived "cowardice"... since casual fight fans rarely research the validity of their derogatory claims or bother to understand the actual reason why certain frustrating decisions are made.

Wrong.

Kovalev has been saying he wants the rematch, he's worried Ward doesn't want it.

Why are you such a big fan of Andre Ward, Evander? Most people don't like him, he's obviously not an exciting fighter.

Really ... he looked pretty damn good against Kovalev.

What does Andre Ward mean when he says Sergei Kovalev has bad habits ?

He hates his habit of punching him in the face.

He's suggesting something different is how I read it and made repeated claims throughout reinforcing that Kovalev drinks.
I would have thought the West Coast and Oakland may be known for smoking a joint or two themselves ...any truth to that ?

What the hell... how FAST is time running? Hope it slows down again, or my life will be a short one.

Ward doesn't want it, and I doubt that RN will want to give him another 5-million donation.

By the way, what do Kovalev's "bad habits" have to do with the rematch ?

I haven't heard those rumors. Drunk or not, kovalev > ward.

Right.. Getting floored with a solid knockdown and being outboxed, outpunched, and chased around the ring whenever it was a boxing match... When it became a pushing, shoving, holding-n-hitting, head-leveraging, and wrestling match---which the American referee allowed---Ward was given credit for "infighting" skills by the 3 American judges...

That fight and coordinated score was fixed, because all 3 judges gave Ward the 10th -- a round he didn't come close to winning.. In the rematch you will see Ward fighting that same ugly, non-boxing fight the whole 12 rounds -- with all American judges and referee again. But whoever they get we're going to get the same type of score.

And I'm not saying Ward can't box... I think his the best Super Middleweight ever... He's boxing skills just can't match Kovalev's.

Ward got the W in a close fight. Stay butthurt, kalan. If the rematch does happen it will likely be a wider decision for Ward.

I'm not convinced Krusher fans really want the rematch. You have the perfect scenario if Ward retires. You can whine for eternity.

Ward got a corrupt W and he knows it, and you know it... He's the guy delaying the rematch and saying he might retire for good... He has the perfect scenario... He can retire "undefeated" and claim he's the best ever - and his butt kissing fans will back him up. How about if Ward defends his title in against Kovalev in Russia, with 3 Russian judges and a Russian referee? Do you think he'd be up for that?

Breathe, kalan. Consciously breathe in, then consciously exhale.

It is ok. Krusher lost but life goes on, as long as you don't hold your breath waiting for the outcome to change.

I'm not... This is an opinion thread, dolt... There's a good reason Ward doesn't want to fight Kovalev and is delaying the rematch... He took a lot of big shots in the first fight, and got knocked down and beaten up... Robberies are never changed... But fans know which fights were the worst robberies.

. . . and which ones were not robberies at all, like Ward v Krusher.
