Much improved performance from Andries in the rematch, he really dominated Harding before the stoppage, quite routine actually, I think this trilogy is one of the best in boxing

Just read my report from the first fight last year

"Andries looked the better fighter, although no technical genius himself.
Harding was just a blunt instrument. Tough as hell, cracking chin, heart and stamina, blocked punches expertly with his face and hit fairly hard.
The rounds that Andries dropped, the 7th and 8th, he ran out of steam and the 11th he got hurt while ahead. I suspect a late 20's Andries might have had the beating of Harding.

But credit to Harding, he would not be deterred, I doubt even a younger Andries could have stopped him this night (I know he did a year later, but Harding looked like you could have hit hit with a truck in this fight and he'd have kept coming.)
He showed great heart and wore Andries down and got a solid stoppage win

Fine battle, but not one for the purists

Routine? Andries was exhausted, has to use up huge energy to get the payoff. This was a savage fight. Dennis just put in an extreme,ply direct performance, went through Harding but took plenty of damage himself. The finish is one of the best ever, he practically nailed Harding to the floor. One of my favourite fights involving a British fighter away.

My bad, to be honest mate I cant remember too much about the fight as ive watched hundreds of old fights recently trying to catch up, the only thing I was able to remember was being impressed with Andries a lot more in the rematch and I thought Harding wasn't as effective??

Andries vs Harding II

1. 10 - 9. Andreis - Fast start, won clearly
2. 10 - 9. Andries - closer round
3. 10 - 9. Andries - I had Harding winning this one up to half way
4. 9 - 10. Harding - Andries looked like he was lagging here
5. 10 - 10 Even - really good round with both guys hurt at points
6. 10 - 9. Andries - Getting back on top in this one
7. TKO. Andries came out like a mad man and must have been delighted that Harding never beat the count, Because Dennis had poured everything into this round and the final clubbing right was the act of a man with absolutely nothing left to give

Good fight and pleased Andries actually managed to stop him.
Not the most technical fight and Harding is probably the subject of a technical textbook on how not to box, fundamentally not the most gifted boxer, but a lot of heart shown here once again

Interesting that he beat Harding in Australia
Andries had been based in America when he lost to Harding in Atlantic city, and he he went on to lose to him again in Blighty in 91. Yet he got his big win in Hardings back yard. Really adds to this win

Andries vs Hearns was an entertaining and interesting bout.
Very different to the Harding fight, as one might expect.

Harding pretty much lost every round, however he was competitive for the first few.
But he got knocked down 4 times in the 6th, again in the 9th and then remarkably stopped when he got pushed to the floor in the 10th, which the ref called as a KD.

Hearns was some animal though and it's no surprise he's remembered so fondly.
At 147lbs he was a gangly big bugger at 6'1", who was somehow able to generate great punch power.
30lbs north of there and he was still a puncher, not many will carry that power through 5 weight classes.
Equally he was quite quick at welter and that never left him at LHW. He wasn't quite as mobile, fluid and dynamic at 175lbs but he was still some boxer and showed that here.
And to top it off, he showed the same vulnerability he'd shown through his career as Andries was able to hurt him on a couple of occasions early

The count seems a bit quick to me?

I loved watching Harding, just so tough and gutsy. I understand he has severe alcohol problems and apparently isn't the friendliest of drunks

One of my favourite ever fights. Savage and exhausting. I really felt Andries took a lot of punishment from the short Harding hooks and uppercuts to land his own savage, looping shots. Dennis was a man possessed, had to walk through a lot to nail his man practically to the canvas.

Andries really found his dance partner in Harding. I find most other Andries bouts to be unwatchable.

Those were the days.

Andries v Harding III was on a Wednesday in Hammersmith. The next day I was at Duke McKenzie v Cesar Soto bout in Battersea.

Both Andries & Billy Schwer (he'd fought on the undercard) were there, among others. Can you imagine many fighters today turning up at a fairly small fight the next day?
