Although I feel for Steffi Bullband Gavin McDonnell it is 2nd loss on trot for Coldwell and next week will see another. So let's look in History Ryan Rhodes stopped by Alverez Jerome Wilson KO'd by Serg and critically injured Price KO'd McDonnell well beat and Jamie McDonnell lost his last fight really. So on paper Coldwells a crap trainer who just likes money.

But you can spin it

Jerome Wilson out of boxing injured - is that his fault
Jamie mcdonnell very lucky to get decision - World Champ
David price kod - fair enough fighter may have let himself down
Gavin McDonnell well beaten - good effort against a very decent operator, one judge had it a draw
Tony Bellew ??? - world champ, calling the shots

definetly his fault with Jerome he put him straight back in with serg McDonnell was ibf world champ and won the WBA after trainer Dave Hulley wouldn't fly but j McDonnell lost his last fight 114 114 was a joke you know that he never won a round really Bellew will lose for sure look at odds bookies hardly ever get it wrong

Almost half of all boxers in every contest lose.
That's no reflection on Coldwell.

Guys I have always held the view that any trainer is only as good as the boxer

I remember after Golovkin Vs Brook somebody on here was saying Hearn's on a bad run now with Edwards, Hall & Brook all losing, but the thing is, all three were underdogs and he didn't lose any champions as all three were challengers.

Pretty similar with Coldwell really, not sure on the Price Vs Hammer odds but I would imagine Hammer was the favourite, plus no belt was involved. Tonight McDonnell was a massive underdog, lost on points and was challenging..

Next week is the only one that can be regarded as a high profile loss for Coldwell with Bellew being the flag-bearer of his stable. Even in this fight which seems to be a forgone conclusion, his man is the underdog but what do either of them really lose? There's no shame in stepping up a weight class to fight one of the most dangerous names in the division, plus he's still got his WBC belt at cruiser..

Not too bad for Coldwell really is it

it was vacant so both were challenging.home advantage as well so it is bad for coldwell.if it was football losing important games he'd be sacked

I made a similar argument with Tesco Joe.

He wasn't the greatest trainer on earth when he was on a hot streak for a couple years and he didn't become a dud when he had a string of top level defeats.

The same goes for Caldwell, when tou have so many top level fighters in the same gym, you'll have good and bad runs, he must have had a god run to end up with so many guys in these positions to be in these high profile fights

You don't get a gym filled with so many high level recognisable fighters if you're a crap trainer

Price was actually a solid favourite against Hammer (as well as Thompson x2 and Teper), though I don't think he deserved to be based on form.

The hatred in Body Active's posts is absokuteky disturbing. Gloating about underdog losses when most within the sport were predicting a Vargas destruction.

Where was you when Coldwell took McDonnell to America twice to defeat the excellent Kameda?

How about Bellew avenging loss to Cleverly then taking Euro and world belts?

Your bitterness is really disturbing.

when mcdonnell 1st won in America he was trained by Dave Hulley he did all the hard work living with Him but he didnt get on the plane.and he beat the kid so in the rematch mcdonnell was confident already. He was already there anyway when he beat ceja in doncaster.shall i tell u what is disturbing the sight of Jerome Wilson trying to recover from bad management and also disurbing he ignored Jerome at the BBB of C awards after what he partly caused.my feelings arnt half as disturbing as that are they Chris w
