"WBC orders Adonis Stevenson into mandatory defense"

Eleider Alvarez (22-0, 11 KOs) is about to get his wish, because the World Boxing Council has officially ordered a 30 day negotiations period for a deal to get reached with WBC world champion Adonis Stevenson (28-1, 23 KOs).

Alvarez has been his mandatory challenger since a majority decision win against Isaac Chilemba in an elimination fight in November 2015.



If no deal is reached, the World Boxing Council has scheduled a purse bid for March 24 in Mexico City.

The plan is for the fight to take place on April 29 in the main event of the first boxing card since the mid-1980s at the newly renovated Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale on New York's Long Island.

Both boxers are advised by Al Haymon and promoted by Yvon Michel of GYM.

its not a great fight, but a good one. i like the match up. eleider got some power, adonis still amongs the top 4 lh in the world. good match up.

if adonis wants to leave "the chicken club" than he ll has to fight other names.

That doesn't sound accurate. Alvarez risked his status voluntarily and that should give Adonis yet another voluntary. They're forcing Alvarez to fight again in 2 months? Two Montreal based fighters are going to fight in front of a third of the crowd in NY? Yeah, I expect Adonis/Monaghan on the 29th.

The purse bid is cancel because Alvarez's promoter agreed with himself to let Stevenson get the April fight against Marcus Brown. Alvarez is guaranteed to face the winner this summer.

So this fight is still not happening, in favor of Browne?

Stevenson and Alvarez shares the same promoter the WBC look like idiot in this process. Alvarez won t get screwd another time he ll get the winner no matter what .
