David Haye and Tony Bellew's heavyweight showdown is in serious doubt.

According to a report in The Sun, Haye has picked up an Achilles injury in training ahead of Saturday's eagerly-anticipated all-British bout.

The 36-year-old flew out to Munich on Tuesday evening, where it is understood he is due to see the acclaimed surgeon Dr Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wolfhardt for treatment.

Haye is due to be in London today to take part in a public workout before Saturday's fight at the O2 Arena, but he is not expected to show.

It would be a bitter blow for boxing fans to see the box-office fight scrapped and would likely cost both fighters huge sums.

Bellew, the WBC world champion at cruiserweight level, had agreed to step up a division to take on Haye, the former heavweight world champion.

The Sun is not exactly the most read newspaper in Liverpool.

And then say he's fine in a video to get back out of Bellew's head?

Not at all... This is the 4th injury in his last 4 fights... Broken toe... Badly cut eye... Shoulder separation... and now Achilles pull

I've always said he over-trains badly and that's why injuries happen... 4 fights takes Haye back 6 years -- all the way to 2011... Not cool for his career.

I was expecting him to come up with something like this.

Haye has no heart for fighting, and becomes fearful during the days leading up to the fight date.

Haye is not pulling out of this one under any circumstances. Haye and Bellew have such hatred for one another. I saw Haye training on Fight Hype. He doesn't look injured to me.

Saturday is warming up nicely.

Can't grant Haye v Bellew A or B status for a number of reasons.
Good chance it will be entertaining but there are so many intangibles to dismiss it before it goes off regardless of the outcome.

"David Haye will NOT be forced to withdraw from his grudge match with Tony Bellew despite reports of an Achilles injury." This was on the Express news website which is based in UK.

David Haye was never injured. He claims he went for a check-up and there no signs of injury during the open workout
