Hayes world....caving in?

from the outside im beginning to wonder whats happened to Hayes world.
His personal life, acrimonious split from wife and kids, this plays hard in the head, i know it, ive been there.
Hayes split with Booth......the soul mates. The reasons whys and wherefores were kept quiet....but??
Hayemaker promotions.... I went to their launch presser, all pally pally, Haye and Coldwell etc. What happened for Haye to be referring to Coldwell as a 'Rat'?
Hayes different persona at press conferences etc, the once affable cockney wide boy has now become a sullen angry young man.
Rumours of Haye being allegedly skint, rumours from good sources, shit, the guy has earnt millions and pissed it into the wind with poor chancing and poor mal guided investment.
Something has happened with Hayes stance on life, his reasons for the issues, personal issues i know but I cant help think that, although he carried the top cruiser and heavyweight baubles, he could have achieved so more and been the peoples champion. His popularity is rock bottom now, but from the outside it looks like its his own fault.
Anyone care to enlighten us?

Did Haye invest his money poorly? If so, I wonder why he or indeed any boxer making millions would do such a thing. Given that every single millionaire boxer in history has ended up broke through bad investments, I might be inclined to avoid their fate and simply pay my tax and keep my millions in the bank. Ah, but inflation! That 5 mil won't be 5 mil in 5 years! You need to invest it somewhere - so that it makes money and is still the equivalent of 5 mil in 5 years' time!
What sort of lavish lifestyle must you be living when you have to worry about millions of pounds sitting unmolested in the bank still not being enough money to see you out?
Is this a naive post? I brace myself for the wrath of all the Forbes reading millionaire-works-in-progress that populate online boxing forums.

i don't get it either. Very unpredictable guy.
He was my favourite fighter when rising the ranks, powerful, lightning quick and talented cruiserweight just demolishing everyone. Seemed to be a decent guy. Then an endless line of pullouts, injuries, career decision u-turns, distasteful comments, and cynical plans just made me not care any more.

Reads like an introduction to a book - maybe that's Haye's next move
Only going on what I've read on here regarding Booth, but money is often the case in fighter/trainer splits and he doesn't seem to be the only one to fall out with Coldwell

It is a strange one. There's plenty of low risk investments out there that he could have managed himself.
Just buy himself a fairly large amount of buy to let properties and he can just sit back and watch his money grow at a decent rate. Look at what Robbie Fowler did with his money from football, he owns hundreds of houses and makes a damn fine living from them.
I suspect Haye sought out investments that suited, in his mind at least, his lifestyle. The need for fame etc

Haye's a focused man so I guess he will put all hopes and ambitions into one big gamble - take the short end of the stick for a summer rematch at Goodison, remain un-injured through training, and blast Bellew out early, to get back into position to challenge for a world title. If he can remain un-injured that is entirely achievable, Bellew can't do anything better or different next time, a fully fit Haye can. Haye's a bit old to take a couple of years off, its sxxt or get off the pot for him and he really really needs Bellew now. I imagine he's smart enough to accept the shorter purse next time round, on the basis that he blasts out Bellew and can then crack on. I was wondering, even before the fight ended, if that was running through his mind. He was diplomacy itself during the interviews and readily conceded ground on financial terms, rematch location, etc.

I had this chat with the lads at work. I was saying that if I won £10million, I would live, pay my mortgage, car finance etc from the interest. Which when you bank that much cash, can be near the double figure % of interest.
I started a thread on this which nobody has replied to yet. I ask what is his next move if he carries on. Personally, I think he has to take some of AJ's humble pills, and make up with Eddie/Sky. I think they are the only ones that can rebuild him on a few free Fight Nights. It's a win-win for both. Haye has no other options.
If you can't beat them, join them

His comments at the end reminded me of Mike Tyson virtually begging Lennox lewis for a rematch saying he would very much appreciate the payday, sad sight.

Haye could write a good book so long as it was an honest account. He's had a lot of drama over the years.
Still, the Undisputed Cruiserweight Champion of The World...plus, a decent Heavyweight, is nothing to be ashamed of.

Property seems to be the most sensible option in the world. Guaranteed fat pension from renters. And yet with boxers they always seem to prefer investing the entirety of their purse in some magic bean field in Nicaragua. Felix Trinidad had literally tens of millions in the bank, and allowed some Puerto Rican hick to gamble away his whole fortune like it was pound coins in a slot machine. Boxers are absolutely mystifying.

Boxers are by nature high risk individuals, hardly surprising they are easy to sell high risk sexy sounding investments, that in the end bear no fruit.

If that's true i wouldn't mind betting his ex wife has a stake on his earnings now and in the future so she may get a big chunk of that.

He'll be legally obliged to keep her in the lifestyle she is accustomed to for the rest of his days.

He just got put back on earth, that's all.
I think he should have stayed a cruiserweight his entire carreer, then he would have been a champion for a decade ish probably.

Haye 2.0 - Does it come with a warrenty?
Seriously, Haye needs to be around 210lbs if he returns.

And made a fraction of the money. You'd make a terrible manager.
Cruiserweight doesn't produce anywhere near enough money.

Who knows what debts he has also.
My mate used to earn between 1-1.5 million a year, and bought his house outright in 5 years in islington, but he also racked up 100's of thousands in credit card and other debts. When the earnings stopped coming in at that level, he found himself having to remortgage his house. He now earns way less than that, and he's not anywhere near as wealthy. He's not skint, but he feels the pinch in a way he didn't before.
I doubt very much Haye is actually skint, he'll have some assets, and probably has way more disposable income that all of us, but he's used to a luxury lifestyle with very little financial limitations. Me, I could invest and live of 7 million and never have to work a day in my life if I didn't want to.

I think Buster Douglas, Michael Spinks, and Duran have some money. Most have gone broke or near broke, but there are usually exceptions to the rule.
Hopefully Terrance Crawford listens to and understands advice from his buddy Warren Buffett. They learn about boxing, drugs, women, trainers, but yeah they need to learn some basic Investing 101.

Lennox Lewis invested pretty wisely it seems, Bernard Hopkins too. Lewis never seemed the flashy type, it's that more than anything i think stops fighters blowing their money.
At one point Tyson was spending 100,000 a month on staff, including people to feed his two pet tigers. He'd walk into a Jewellers and buy a rolex for everyone in his detail. There's plenty of stupid shite for rich people to spend on. Tyson had prada wallpaper throughout his house. I'll bet that's more than 20 quid a roll.

Yup. Two types of rich people. The first group talks about things like needing more bling, more $100,000 cars and the other groups talks about things like, "Do you know ATT comes with a good dividend, or bonds are good investment after they raise the interest rates. The first group doesn't stay wealthy long.

The better the story, the better the money, 10 years unbeaten in one weightclass is a pretty good story imo.

On Haye's Mrs and their split. Does anybody think his sudden loss of money is a bit suspicious? He's got friends worldwide where he could easily 'lose some money' so the courts don't sting him for maintenance.

He is just in it for the money these days.
