"Katie Taylor added to Linares-Crolla II"
Katie Taylor’s fourth professional fight will take place on the undercard of Anthony Crolla’s World Lightweight title unification rematch with Jorge Linares at the Manchester Arena on Saturday March 25, live on Sky Sports.
“The Linares Crolla fight rematch is a brilliant fight and another massive event. It was a great atmosphere at The O2, but every fight is a big one. You can't afford to slip up in the pro game so every fight is like an Olympic final.”
“Saturday was the first time as a pro that I had a proper camp, I got great sparring in America with seasoned pros every day so I am learning all the time and I feel more than ever that the pro game is made for me. The body work was good and overall it was a very effective performance and getting a stoppage over a durable girl like that was the icing on the cake.”
“It was great to get another stoppage win, it's all gone well so far and the opponents are going to step up now as we kick on this year for a World title.”

Great to watch. I'm not one for watching women's boxing but I'll be tuning in to her future fights.

Not sure what people's problem is with Taylor and/or Women's boxing as a whole.
I've enjoyed Katie's fights so far, and some of the stuff at the Olympics was great.
Someone in another thread compared it to Women's Football being on Super Sunday. It's not that at all I don't think, it's a ridiculous comparison to make. Especially when there's plenty of bum fights on cards these days, at least we're seeing in Taylor and no doubt others to follow. Adams, Shields, Braekhus etc, those that are at the peak in their class.
Taylor hasn't even really been chief support. I believe (certainly on Saturday gone) she was a live float and could just as easily have been on at 8pm had things panned out that way.
More power to the women. Much better to see a top quality operator, male, female, old, young, fighting than a ticket-selling prospect, there purely because they can shift 200 tickets, who's never gonna make it get a 40-36 on a fat Latvian binman.

Shes really good, which weve known for years, but Im not particularly interested in her beating very poor, over-matched opponents.
Get her on a Loma schedule and match her with someone like Jelena Mrdjenovich (sp).

She's got great skills. Reminds me of a female Lomachenko.
Desperately needs better opposition.

She has the ability and background to be moved fast like him. Id like to see her in there already with the top fighters in her division, as well as moving around weights to show her stuff against bigger opponents. Pro fights with amateur rivals would make sense, but I dont know if any of those women have turned over.

The elephant in the room is Womans Boxing appeal is almost zero.
Katie is great to watch but the level of opponent is already embarrassingly well below her, even this early in her pro career.
Be good for everyone to see her stepped up and in genuine fights. That's what is going to bring fans in.
Womans boxing has to attract the casual boxing fan and they want:
"Did you see Katie Taylor that fight last night, awesome battle"
Not,
"Did you see Katie Taylor last night, awesome hand speed"
Good luck to her, has the entire sport on her shoulders.

Oh, that's absurd. She was having an undercard fight, and not even one over that many rounds. She wasn't main eventing, she wasn't chief support. It's not like the card was built around her.
I appreciate that there isn't exactly a depth of fights in the woman's division, but that's not her fault. She's fighting on a few shows, that's all. And even if she does get a following and main events a few shows, so what? Nobody is forcing you to watch.

I think the only way to gain appeal and exposure it to just have her out, and out regularly. Especially in front of the cameras.

I thought she did well, given that her opponent was tough and was pretty negative in there. Did well to get her out of there. Better than Bellew did facing a guy with one leg.

Same. Wouldn't make sense to fast track her Loma-style into the biggest fights available straightaway, it wouldn't get her much more exposure or popularity as so few people know anything about the women's game anyway. Just need to get her out and known, and also get people accustomed to actually watching women fight before going much further.
