Will you give Golovkin credit if he KOs Jacobs?

Yes or no?

Jacobs is a dangerous puncher and very good middleweight.

Some people won't, they'll just start saying Jacobs was no good.

Yes

Jacobs is a good fighter and top 3 MW for me.

How is this thread stupid? Why did it hit a nerve on you?

Fight is coming up five days from now.

It's always the same shit with you. Will you give so and so credit if he wins? It's tiresome and boring. Fighters always get some credit when they legitimately win, whether they get the amount of credit you believe they deserve is of no importance. Of course Golovkin is going to get credit for beating Jacobs. Give it a rest.

Remember all the "division is weak" talk when Wladimir was dominating HW?

I'm reading the exact same comments around the internet from the very same people when they talk about Golovkin and the MW division.

If Golovkin wins, which I'm not absolutely certain he will, next week those people will say Jacobs was no good and GGG's resume is poor.

In terms of the betting odds for the Golovkin-Jacobs fight, betway and 188BET rate GGG as being 90.9% certain to retain his world titles, with the American underdog having an implied probability of just 15.4% to emerge victorious.

To put these numbers into context, the bookies believed that Liam Smith had more chance of scoring an upset over Canelo than they rate Jacobs’ chances of success against Golovkin.

Did anyone award Canelo any kudos for defeating such a huge underdog like Liam Smith? If so, then Golovkin will also deserve to receive some praise for defeating Jacobs. If Alvarez wasn’t applauded for his victory over the Brit, then GGG should not receive any praise for defeating the American.

Canelo selected the weakest of belt holders who was probably not even top 10 JMW. Golovkin fights the best available opponent at his weight who is #2-3.

Funny, because I remember before the fight was signed how certain posters were going on about Jacobs being Golovkin's highest rated opponent (citing things like Ring Magazine ratings, which have Jacobs at 2, a position Smith has never reached). Apparently, on the basis of his lofty position within the division, Danny certainly deserved more than what was apparently being offered!

Now he's just another Liam Smith, a guy whose best win is over John Thompson (and Smith wasn't even winning at the time of the stoppage)

You’ve raised an interesting point, which unfortunately doesn’t relate to my comments.

My post simply detailed the betting odds… and according to some betting websites, Jacobs is a slightly bigger underdog against GGG than Smith was against Canelo.

In terms of Liam Smith, he was rated 8th by The Ring and actually held a genuine world title when he faced Canelo.

I’m not suggesting for one second that the Brit was a better opponent than Jacobs, since that's an entirely different discussion. However, I always prefer like to stick to the facts, since it’s better to be objective and honest than to misrepresent reality to dramatic proportions in order “pretend” that one’s point is more compelling than it actually is. Don't you agree?

I think the majority of people will give G3 credit. However, I find it funny that OP tends to give no credit to American fighters, especially black ones. Yet loves making these "Will so and so get credit" or "Will these judges be fair to the foreigner in the US" topics. Let somebody get robbed in Germany or Russia, crickets from him. Mot outrage, no topics, etc....

Just another reason why the forum is going to crap I guess.....

You need to learn how to read. I didn’t fabricate the betting odds that I quoted. They came from third-party sources that can easily be verified by anyone possessing minimal computer literacy.

Quoting information supplied by external parties does not necessarily represent a personal opinion.

I have already posted my personal opinion of this fight, but it’s abundantly clear that you’re far too lazy to check what I actually wrote.

Once you’ve done your research, get back to me with an apology! :shame:

It'd be disappointing if GGG didn't KO Jacobs. 20+ KO streak ends against a chinny fighter? That'd be a poor performance. Anybody who hasn't already given GGG credit is a straight biased douche. This should be business as usual.

I expect him to knock Jacobs out but I'll still give him credit for doing it. I like to see someone take on the top challengers and dominate their division in exciting style. Hopefully after this he can either get the big Canelo fight or failing that, fight Saunders and become the undisputed champion.

But Jacobs is a better fighter and a much stronger puncher than Liam Smith.

You are actually comparing (spinning) Jacobs to Liam Smith as equal opponents? Putting the numbers into context or comparing betting odds doesn't mean squat, to me at least. Its just your way to stir up a stupid argument. GGG will get more credit for beating Jacobs than Canelo got for beating Smith, and rightfully so.

BTW @ Freedom - Do you think Andrade's split decision was fair?

The betting odds are what they are, at least from the websites I quoted.

I found the betting odds for the Golovkin-Jacobs fight interesting to the point of being provocative, hence the reason why I quoted them.

Like I said before, quoting information cited by third-parties does not necessarily represent a personal opinion.

For the record, the betting odds matter, since they represent the opinions of the masses who are willing to put their money where their mouth is.

Never rated Jacobs that highly. He no better than other opponent GGG has beaten, he's about on par with GGGs best opponents. It's not a step up for GGG. I will give him credit for beating another B Lister, not a career defining fight are the type of win that puts you in the ATG category. It will be a good win though, the fight I'd predictable though and there's only one likely outcome.

No, it should have been a UD (something like 116-112 for Andrade is a fair scorecard).

Definately, he's fighting the best opponent out there, just watched the presser now, GGG lips looked a bit damaged, was it from sparring or cold sores? Sparring no probs but if he's run down that's really not good against a guy as good as Jacobs.

Many will. Bet your life on that.

The easier GGG wins the more people will detract from the worth of his performance :OhYes:

Ha-ha-ha. I remember people saying the same before the Brook fight.
