Reece Bellotti vs Dai Davies

So Sky/Matchroom start their NxtGen series this Friday . from what I gather its to get Eddie's young fighters some airtime and exposure since his stable is so big and the novices rarely get any TV time from the bottom of the bill, I think this is a great idea and hopefully they stick with it and it lasts longer than allegedly BoxAcademy :OhYes:

Tomorrow night we have Bellotti vs Davies in an eliminator for the British Featherweight title, Bellotti is unbeaten in 8 with 7KOs, the CV is thin though and the only guy to take him the distance is the only guy with a winning record, ive only seen him once or twice before and he has an exciting style but he's in with a very experience pro in Davies who although has a lot of losses, they have all been against quality opposition as the "away" fighter so I bet theres a few unlucky losses on the ledger, he's probably most known for having a draw with a young Jamie McDonnell years ago, funnily enough Davies won both the fights he had last year including one against a guy who was 11-0 so hopefully he's coming in with renewed ambition and he can teach Bellotti a few tricks

Still I would expect Bellotti to be too young, fresh and strong for Davies and over the 10/12 round distance should get him out of there after Davies takes his lumps

Dai Davies list of opponents is incredible, talk about being matched hard

Is this like 'Fight School' back in the day? From what i remember, that was canned because it forced prospects to be overmatched so not to make woeful TV.

This is on Sky Sports Mix, so should be available to everybody on Sky or Virgin. :TU:

It's a decent small hall show that has two bouts on TV. Or as Eddie is calling it, a uniquely original concept the likes of which have never been seen. A gamechanger for UK boxing.

Nice KO for Bellotti there, set it up well, he was just starting to find his range, I thought Davies started off well making Bellotti miss and landing some nice jabs of his own but in the 3rd Bellotti started to have more success, still the KO came from nowhere

Looked the part Bellotti but Walsh is a big step up

Agreed.
Bellotti looked fantastic though - no reason he wouldn't beat Walsh.
IMO he needs to win a Prizefighter and a few more English-title 10-rounders before going for The British. If he won it he'd be looking @ Euro/World class with nowhere near enough experience.

I enjoyed the show last night. Watched the undercard on Sky's FB page and then the couple of fights on Sky Sports. Hopefully Matchroom will put these kind of shows on every 6weeks/2months.

I also agree with English Title or just 10rounders but the Prizfighter?? why would he need to win that?

Think Prizefighter's been canned now although though there was talk of bringing it back for a final send off

I liked it when it 1st started, I remember Rogan winning the 1st one, by the end though Matchroom were relentless with it

Rogan winning the first was fantastic entertainment. Not many have lived up to that.
Ovill winning the cruiser one was pretty cool. Audley wasn't bad. Buckland vs Sykes.

I'd like to see it back. Maybe a quality one once a year. Great for the betting and - I'm sure - would get good viewing figures.

was a good night, i had to shoot off before the final two fights - couldnt keep my eyes open!

thought dignum and felix cash did very well,

hyland jr imo got a gift against cope, 78-76, tbh i scored it 73-80, lots of the rounds were close affairs though, i reckon you'd have 20 different scorecards if you asked 100 people to score it.

thought ambler beat darby too, they gave it 39-38 but should have been 38-40, darby looked like he could (and should) have gone up a gear or two, his workrate is going to have be better in future

chamberlain and ball won by BS stoppages, nothing to write home about. i always say id rather a fight stopped too early than too late but Ball's stoppage in particular was incredibly premature.
