I know it's early days but there is a decent standard of fights in the Olympic Boxing i would say. Best performance so far IMO is probably Vitali Tajbert of Germany, he did a good job on Daniel Brizuela.

Best fight so far i think was Edvaldo Oliveira of Brazil against Carlos Velazquez of Puerto Rico, it was a cracking battle and ended in a draw with Oliveira winning on a count back.

Poorest Performance was probably Oleg Saitov, he looked no where near the Saitov of old who won two gold medals previously...he was getting points scored for nothing against game Miloud Ait Hammi.

Anyone care to add anything else?!

These judges seem to be swayed a lot by reputation, as seen in Saitov's fight. Agree about Tajbert being the best. Also I thought a Ugandan was a bit hard done by against the current world champ Jafarov, I thought Jafarov still won but they seemed overly trigger happy with scoring Jafarov's punches.

Refereeing has been good up to now.

Not according to Steve H, he has been berating them I like there hand signals, i see how many i can recognise. The Chinese guy looked like he was bringing in a plane after he broke up a clinch.

Theirs a plague of cagey southpaws in this tournament. I hope they don't all come to the pro game.

The Bulgarian due to face Khan in the next round is a cagey southpaw i think? He looked a nightmare to fight in his win.

Yes he meets Euro champ Stilianov from Bulgaria next. Looks a tough one, the Bulgarian is fancied to get to the final by some people.

Just watched the two ex-Soviet featherweights Khidirov and Jafarov in action. Jafarov is one of the favorites, but both looked excellent, and they're meeting next in what's a must-see fight.

With all these ex-Soviet stars about, it's no wonder our medal chances are down to one.
