Screw thei idea of GGG/Canelo, I want GGG/Jacobs 2

canelo would get brutalized by either one, the small guy would have no chance against those big power hitters.

one of the best fights i have ever seen. the knock down wasnt a knock down, danny went down because his legs werent placed well, but not of ggg's punch.

i predicted it wrong having ggg as the winner, jacobs won :OhYes: but it was close

i want rematch, a triology of jacobs and ggg, this was great boxing!!

Canelo and his team will be begging for it after that.

Absolutely agree. Golovkin has lost a step and Canelo is probably licking his chops right now, so I expect the GGG-Canelo megafight will take place before any GGG-Jacobs rematch.

canelo is a midget compared to those guys. they both ko him brutal. canelo could never do to ggg what danny did to ggg. canelo aint that athletic, aint that tall, aint that big of a puncher, aint that strong.

Jacobs done well, but I didn't think it was a great fight. Not exactly a barnstormer nor a masterclass, the Gonzalez Rungvisai fight was much better IMO

ggg didnt lost a step, he looked as good as always, the only difference was, that for the first time he had a tall big strong athletic middleweight top boxer in the ring and no b or c class opponent or welterweight

I agree that Jacobs is better than the 2nd-tier and 3rd-tier guys GGG has been feasting on, but still think GGG of 2 years ago would have stopped Jacobs.

Yea I think the right thing to do would be to give Jacobs a rematch. Erase this performance.

Is GGG-Saunders pretty much done?

saunders is boring. danny is a great entertaining power puncher. GGG vs Jacobs II

Danny didnt look like a power puncher at all, though he was very fast and stuck to a good plan

We should hear about it next week, but Gennady's performance today couldn't scare Saunders.

If his punches weren't hard, GGG would have walked through them, not given him the respect he did. It was a close fight that could have gone either way, but based on what I saw, the right man won the decision. I'll be interested to see the percentage of ringside observers who scored it for Jacobs.

Agreed that a rematch would be good, but if GGG's team is smart, they'll go after the Canelo fight first, which will hopefully be easier to make after GGG has looked human.

I never said he doesnt punch hard, but for all the talk of his power I dont think he buzzed GGG, and his speed turned out to be a much bigger factor.

I thought he was going to end up looking more like a quick, point scoring boxer than a major banger....his speed overwhelms his KO victims as much as his power.

good assumption. yeah dannys athletiscm speed played a much bigger factor than his power and even when they landed clear on ggg, not much happen. damn, why cant piroqs back be healthy, imagine a in shape piroq landing those punches jacobs today landed....

I'm not sure Pirog hits any harder than Danny. GGG's chin is first class, but he recognised Jacobs' power and opted to be cautious - a little too cautious at times.

maybe slithly, but not a big difference. what a great fight this would have been. piroq and ggg, same height, same reach. this also would have been a mayor competetive fight.

I'll take Jacobs in a rematch. GGG was too timid and wary of his power to take a single chance over 12 rounds. Not once did he push on the accelerator and try to overpower him.

I'm thinking the ppv buys will determine whether or not GGG/Jacobs 2 is next.
If the ppv buys were low team GGG will probably move on to Saunders.

Even if Canelo is suddenly ready to face GGG after last night I doubt GBP is ready to let it happen.

I’m far less confident now about this being true than I was yesterday.
Jip wrote:one of the best fights i have ever seen.
The only thing remarkable about last night’s fight was the fact that Golovkin was being pushed to his limits, otherwise it was an overly cautious affair, where the work-rate was lacklustre and the skill-set on display wasn’t particularly refined.

For sure, seeing something unusual, a rare occurrence, is always intriguing, but would you feel the same if you watched precisely the same fight between two anonymous names (instead of Jacobs and Golovkin)?
Jip wrote:the knock down wasnt a knock down, danny went down because his legs werent placed well, but not of ggg's punch.
According to the rule book, it was technically a knockdown, but I see your point and in some way, I also endorse it.
Jip wrote:i predicted it wrong having ggg as the winner, jacobs won :OhYes: but it was close
I technically predicted the “official” outcome and I also correctly predicted that GGG would be far more cautious and defensively-responsible against Jacobs than he was against Brook. That being said, I expected Golovkin to dominate on the scorecards, but this was wrong, since it clearly didn’t happen… and a decent argument can be made to claim that Jacobs deserved to gain the nod. The decision was no robbery though.
Jip wrote:i want rematch, a triology of jacobs and ggg, this was great boxing!!
I want a rematch, just to clear-up any doubts. It wasn’t “great boxing” though.

My fear is that GGG faces Saunders, Canelo and makes an interim mandatory defence of his belts before facing Jacobs (possibly next year)… and if he’s a year older, he may struggle to repeat his victory if "father time" is catching up with him.
