Fantastic win for Beefy. Cazacu is a dangerous opponent who has won 2 of his 41 fights. The long unbeaten run of Tesco Joe (excluding title fights) continues. Give him a biscuit.

him v Williams is going to be for a vacant world title now, Smith couldn't fight for it coming off a loss. Cynical move but understandable.

Have you heard anything to make you think that?

I'd be surprised - the fight is only 3 weeks ago and it seems stupid to have not sorted it out by now as it would really help in selling the card.

everything I've read today seems to point to it. Has to be a good reason why they did it.

everything I've read today seems to point to it. Has to be a good reason why they did it.

I'm not sure why Canelo would give up the title now. If he were to then I would have thought he'd have done it when the fight with Chavez Jr was announced.

Also, if it is for the WBO title, then fighters have fought for the vacant title coming off a loss before. Jessie Vargas I think did it.

i just noticed it on boxrec results before i saw this thread, strange one, risking an injury/cut less than 3 weeks before the williams fight, fighting an absolute no body.

strange non sensible move by beefy me thinks perhaps he is not as confident of 'toasting' williams as he makes out.

ok, if this is the case then i can see why.

Dunno about world title but i'm pretty sure the british board have some sort of ruling on fighting for British titles on a loss, seen it a few times were a fight has been announced and the fighter has a 4-rounder before the fight to get a win. I'm guessing this was in barcelona to keep it away from view as it would've been like an exhibition bout.

It's been announced the fight is now for the 'interim' WBO title.
