Just read on the Beeb that a kiddies tournament has been cancelled for the second time in two years due to " Threats to life" Crazy world we live in.

I'm taking a guess - travellers?

Was gonna be at sporting village in Basildon

Dunno who it was, but it was for kids age 14/15, sad that they can't compete.

This happens all the time but doesn't get reported. Club shows are regularly getting cancelled on police advice...

Seems ludicrous. I'm well out of the loop now and wouldn't have a clue about the whys and wherefores of this, please may somebody give some insight?

They could be from anywhere if it's nationals.

Anyone been to kids football on a weekend? Whether it's 7-8 year olds or 14-15 year olds. Far far worse than watching the Sunday league teams in terms of threats, language etc and I've even seen fists go flying quite a few times.

Yeah happy days, really toughened me up and was invaluable experience for later in life.

Previous cancellations, the same happened last year, have been blamed on disputes between groups of travellers who know that their target will be at a particular boxing show. Nowt to do with the actual boxing. Not sure if the same applies to the weekends event being cancelled.

an amateur show last year.

That's Wakefield, I think. York ABC has had its last three home shows cancelled because of that feud and had its license suspended. It's too unsafe for them to box with one of the lads on the squad. They've got the license back now, I'm not sure if the kid is still on the squad. He's about 13.

Aye when I used to play I did a Roy Keane on Alfie Haaland type tackle before even he did.

I don't get it - if the people involved (presumably travelling families) want a row with each other, then why not just arrange a row?

Surely they don't need to wait until a kids boxing show?

I suppose it's all well publicised where one group are going to be on a certain day.

Yeah, but with social media etc. one group would know where another group are at any time.

Is this one group wants a row and the other group doesn't? - if so, I am sure there are ways for these things to get resolved.

By making things public and involving kids and people not involved in the scenario doesn't help with the reputation - then they moan about how they are perceived.

looks like some adults need to grow up a bit. why live a life where ur constantly kicking off? ffs kids involved as well.

Things get taken too far and silly things that shouldn't, happen all over the country from people of all races and cultures.

It's not just travellers..

Yes, allegedly, this is what happened. There is a big travellers camp near Basildon. Police were concerned about two of the fights. Rearranged for somewhere like Sheffield, so I'm told.

Well, after staging a very successful juniors championships, in which my friends club won a title against a hot favourite, two coaches had it bareknucle outside... it's viral online. Good fight to be honest but how on earth can they expect anyone else to behave when they can't?

Great example: Teeside under 13s league. I wrote my Sierra off trying to get out of Winneybanks early 2000s parent were terrible!
