dammit, i thought it was on Thursday the 9th! Must have been moved. 2 great fights on the same night then!

Love the excuses that were flying around...have to say i laughed at this:

"What about you? You've been out with everything - your arm, your leg, your arse."

This is pathetic for British boxing - why on Earth are they scheduling it for the same night as another, great domestic match-up - is Mr Warren concerned somebody might be getting more attention than him so instead makes his fighters meet in a bout in a half - full venue?

Cracking press conference, should be a cracking fight too.

Despite the war of words and apparent lack of respect they showed each other at the press conference, Tak knows Wayne is very dangerous and he's preparing for the first three rounds to be very difficult, but he just feels his chin and conditioning will enable him to get through the rough patches to stop Alexander in around 6 to 8 rounds and that if he works on his movement, speed and keeping his hands high, he will get to him later on. To be honest, I can't see someone who's been so inactive, knocked out, then floored by Howard Clarke, is all of a sudden going to come back and fight hard for 12 rounds.[/i]

Another WBU title fight. And Thompson-Haye is for the IBO. Two great fights spoilt by the billing.

I fancy Alexander to win. Neither has looked great for a long time. I've never really seen all the fuss over Takaloo, he's strong but all this cr@p about him being really skilled is absolute rubbish. Alexander at least has his power even on an off night so I'll be backing him for a KO.

Neither has looked great, agreed, but Takaloo hasn't been flattened by Delroy Mellis and floored by Howard Clarke, and in light of Montiero's recently failed drug test, his loss over eight rounds when he was not 100 per cent and fed up doesn't look so bad. Takaloo in six or seven rounds after taking a few good whallops early on. Wayne ain't got the lungs to go past four rounds at a high pace.

I am not sure - but did Monteiros drug taking enhance his performance ?.
What did he take and how did it help him ?.

Either way - Tak lost.

Because you take drugs does not mean you will win !

Mellis is a big puncher and i seem to remember WA having damaged ribs going into the Clarke fight ?.

If taking drugs didnt help your performance then they wouldnt have drug tests so the answer to the question is yes they do help you win.
Monterio was beat by Tommy Mac in an WBU international title fight,he then went on to beat Gilbert eastmen,Tak and Farnell,you would have a least said tak and farnell also had the beating of Monterio,but they were beat,as the TAK fight wasnt a title fight there wa no drug test.

Apparently Monterio had traces of speed and ephedrine both stimulants and also nandrolone( a steroid although apparently it was under a postive testable level) usually a diuretic is found also in these cases.This enables the athlete to dilute and excrete the metabolites of the steroid previous to the test while still receiving the benefit of the drug.As in most cases ignorance to doping protocol probably cost him the fight,he probably thought that as there was no doping control for the WBU Internatinal Title he contested with Tommy Mac (only World Title fights a dope tested) that the same procedure would follow the WBU World Title.There was a similar case with Guillemo Jones who fought Nelson,he failed on Diuretics but there were traces of Nandrolone and other stimulants which didnt breach the testable level,but are consistent with earlier drug use.
Which then leads us to Tyson v Williams ,two of the worlds top heaveyweights in a non title,possibly non drug tested fight,if the low level fighters of this world like Monterio are resorting to drugs! you know where I am going right?

Good post - but why attempt to smear one of the greatest performances given by a British fighter abroad? Anyone can pick a non-title upset and level the same ridiculous accusations in that case: Junior Witter against Jan Piet Bergman, for example.
