Can anyone think of a tougher opponent than Lomachenko beating 25-3 Ramirez on his debut?

Odlanier Solis beat a bloke with a record of about 45-7 on his debut, although Sidon was over 40 and had the most padded of records.

Similarly, any examples of a debutant been sent out as cannon fodder against a fighter with a good record and should never be in the same ring together? These days we see a lot of fighters take on completely overmatched opponents to get confidence back after a defeat, but have they ever wheeled out a debutant to an in-form, top class fighter?

I know Pete had some ama/Olympic pedigree but that's pretty insane matchmaking.

Toshiyuki Igarashi,former WBC flyweight champion who is fighting Miguel Cartagena tonight(actually hes prob fighting as I type this) bashed up a debutant in his last fight.Poor thai guy got brought in on his debut,igarashi has had 27 fights and he made his debut 11 years ago!poor guy

They picked a real hardnut for Evander Holyfield's debut. A 6 round war which pretty much set the tone for the Warrior's career!

Boxrec doesn't seem to have complete records of Thai's, TV graphics from Japan for those fights usually have the Thai with a different record to boxrec. Not saying who's right and who's wrong, but it's hard to believe that some of them are debutants.

The obvious answers, are the guys who had world title fights on debut (including Rademacher and Arturo Mayan).

A recent stand out debut was Hinata Maruta (a teenager who beat Jason Canoy, in Canoy's previous bout he had wiped Drian Francisco inside a round).

Samart Payakaroon debuted against a former world champion (I think said champion holds the distinction of being the youngest fighter to lose a world title).

Ryota Murata debuted against the Japanese and Oriental Middleweight champion, which is pretty impressive.

Reggie Ford of Guyana had a tough first two - see http://boxrec.com/boxer/2451. Debut was a ten-round points loss to Bobby "Boogaloo" Watts, who was then ranked 3 in the world at middleweight, and fight two was against Marvin Hagler. I searched high and low for earlier fights before I interviewed him (for the Kirkland Laing biography some years back), but he maintains those were his first two, and I can find nothing to contradict it. Pretty tough pro baptism, anyway.
