This would be a hard part to make your opinion. Who would win in their prime between Pernell "Sweet Pea" Whitaker and Aaron Pryor. At light welterweight in 15 rounds, Pryor take the decision. What is your opinion?

A very tough fight for both greats. I pick Sweet Pea by UD.

Aaron would be moving more air than a Rolls Royce Engine....but not much pay dirt.
Whitaker would completely clown him. And come away with a draw.

I find it hard to pick against Whitaker anytime because he was such a master & virtually impossible to hit cleanly.
Pryor would certainly never stop coming, but he would certainly miss more than he landed.
Pryor didn't mind getting hit by punchers, so feather fisted Whitaker would never bother him, but although Pernell might not damage The Hawk, he would certainly be building up points & putting rounds away.
Whitaker by UD for me.

Agree with everything but Whitaker being feather fisted, that's a myth. 11-4ish for pea.

Also, Sweet Pea had an underrated body attack. I don't The Cincinnati Hawk have ever been hit in the belly often.

He did win the Rodriquez fight with body punching. He wasn't much of a puncher, though that wasn't his game. It would have been an interesting fight. I think people forget just how tenacious Pryor was. He just kept coming and coming, and has a lot of pop.

Yes, it is very hard for anyone to bet against Pernell "Sweet Pea" Whitaker and you have a good point why he would defeat Aaron Pryor in their prime.

I think Sweat Pea could have made The Hawk quit or get DQd.

Pryor was relentless and Whitaker style can nullify The Hawks style but not for the entire fight I think Pryor the night he beat Arguello in the 1st fight would put enough pressure on Sweat Pea to make him stand and fight long enough to hurt Whitaker and slow him down enough over 15 round's to win a close split dec.

- Thank you Clive.

As we can clearly see, the usual giggle of self-emasculates gathering here have joyously closed a circle around their clown prince.
When not clowning, Pea could be could be that sweet boxer that graces posters in your bedrooms, but at the end of the day, this is like a fighter armed with a pea shooter going against a fighter with a howitzer. Normally in battles of greats, off setting variables always give the lesser fighter a chance of winning, but here is a classic style and natural attributes mismatch. I point to the still untattooed circus apprentice clown, Maromero Paez, back in the day making Pea look like a fainthearted club fighter as he battered him around all night. Pea had to resort to a couple of heatbutts that opened up his eye that bothered Paez the rest of the night. There is a strong overlap in that unorthodox Paez style with Pryor's, with the big difference being off the shelf power and speed by Pryor. Nobody ever outboxed him as a pro and Pea sure ain't gonna outbox a guy who outboxed Tommy Hearns, I mean what have you sweeties been swilling these days, c'mon! Pryor by KO as in all his title bouts until he came back from drug rehab during a binge after the 2nd Arguello fight.

your passionate idolizing of the Hawk is wonderfully entertaining, but not particularly informative....never has there been a "prime" shorter than his, never has there been a more carefully managed career, and never have I seen a more optimistically inflated opinion than the one you hold for that fighter.
It's ok....your just showing a strong heartfelt passion for an alternative "clown prince".
Lot's of excuses for this fight....but he would have never beaten Bobby Jo Young even on his best day.

Never a more carefully managed career? He stopped Alexis Arguello twice.
Pryor had not fought for almost 2 and half years when he fought Young. On his best day, Young doesn't see the middle rounds.

Aaron Pryor was a great fighter. A relentless boxer and complete fighter, but he made a lot f mistakes. He sometimes leave his chin open while throwing combinations and he had incredible stamina. He also had a terrific pace.
But, Sweet Pea would make him fight at his pace. And I think that Whitaker was stronger inside in the exchanges. He was very underrated in that regard. I don't think Pryor would be able to bully him around. Plus, Pernell gives you lots of angles and was very difficult to hit cleanly. I'm not saying that the Cincinnati Hawk will miss everything he throws, but, he will connect, but not cleanly. Whitaker would make Pryor pay for his mistakes more often than not. Whitaker would have been the best and most intelligent boxer Pryor ever dealt with. Whitaker by UD. It would be like the Pacman vs JMM fights, but, I am not seeing Sweet Pea going to the canvas like JMM did with Manny.

The mighty one, London ring or whatever he's called this year hath spoken, so thread closed.
No other opinion is valid from here on now.

Pryor has little chance here I.M.H.O.
But I admit his chances are enhanced if there is a blue bottle with any of that "Perrier and tap water" mixture that was available to him from another fight he had.
Probably wouldn't be enough to turn the tide, unless of course Don King had a few judges in his pocket that looked very kindly on Aaron.
So I suppose Aaron could be given a decision if everything was arranged "just so".

I think this fight would be a replica of Whitaker fight with the great Azumah Nelson

What do you suppose was in that bottle?

I'd guess it was the magic potion that switches Buzz to kalan.

I think it must be Perrier water and tap water....a special mixture....just as described. Could it possibly be anything else? ( Ok not really, I think it was probably something more helpful)
Hey Saad....what's really happening here as that you and I are the same person.....and I'm so complex in my matrix, that I'm having you accuse me of being Kalan
just so's I can have this conversation with another facet of myself. Which means.....you need to be more respectful, or I will quit signing on as you....and you will simply cease to be.
Or at least that's what I'll say when you're gone, and I admit to my duplicitous nature and attend the required 12 step program...... And of course I will have to close all my doppleganger accounts.
Including my Saad Sack account.
