Aj carter stopped

Haven't seen it yet but I heard Brixton heavy Aj carter was dropped and stopped quite heavily. Was it a massive shock . Don't know much about him but looking like he's similar to Tom dallas in that he's reached his level and now struggling to deal with shots coming back. Anyone know much about the opponent who beat him?

Can't believe the ref let it continue after the first knockdown.

Awful decision by the ref should have been waved off after 1st knockdown. Does the other guy do many tickets? If not would be suprised to see him out regularly, risk and reward don't match. He will be avoided

Guy who stopped him was Kamil Sokolowski ex kick boxer.Hes been used against a lot of the prospects even beat a local prospect to me Adam Machaj in his veey first fight.

Hes not really known as a puncher but he caught Carter sweet on Saturday. To be fair it was a big risk coming back against a high level journeyman like this after so long out of the ring.

Sokolowski is back out against Josh Sandland in late May

Three things

AJ Carter is an exciting fighter, if he carries on, a chinny heavyweight banger: get a bloody defence, keep that chin down, and you could see he's got some real weight behind those punches....

The referee was BLOODY AWFUL. Get that clueless buffoon back to referee school. Ok so he was obviously trying to give the house fighter every chance, but make him walk towards you, before deciding if he can carry on, instead of holding him for 30 seconds...Jesús...

Who was the co-commentator ? very knowledgeable bloke wasn't he...obviously paying attention, unlike some of the crap commentators we have to put up with on sky.....and what TV channel was it?

Dave Allen.

Streamed live by the promoters on Facebook.

Why didn't his corner step in? They have to take responsibility too, not just the ref.

Dave Allen was brilliant there right from the off!

Ah thanks, the HW boxer presumably - yeah he's got a real talent for it, I might tweet BN about him - as reckon they will have the sense to see he could be a great addition to Barry & co - unlike that pillock Adam smith who wouldn't know a decent commentator if he tripped over one.
Good main commentator too.

And the idiot who put on the music as AJ was down needed someone to slap him round the back of the head.

Bloody hell, exciting fighter AJ, channeling Mike Tyson there, until he gets clipped & its GOODNIGHT...looks like a jab (!!) got him going there at end of 1st...matched tough it seems, but way too fragile, not sure you can fix that ...

I was impressed by Allen as well. Called it as a dangerous fight right from the off.

Who was the main commentator btw?

Bloody hell - that Odeke turns him to jelly with a light jab at the end of the 1st, then poleaxes him in the 2nd with a couple of glancing blows. I think Carter should pursue another career, Pele Reid would have shrugged off those shots.

I've seen sokolowski in the flesh and he is a very tough fighter. He comes to win and takes difficult fights. He will cause a few upsets if the promoters keep using him.

And if he gets the mooted fight with Ian Lewison he's getting beaten up, he lacks the skill to out box him, the power to hurt him and Lewison is probably a good deal stronger.
When did Lewison become the second coming? The only fight I saw him in he was awful and couldn't put a dent in a fighter who hadn't trained, was out the night before and was on a nine fight winless run, being stopped in five of them!

I have been watching the heavyweight division closely over the last five years and have seen a lot of Carter, I have never rated him, too small, too short a reach and hangs his chin out.
As for Allen he has a future as a commentator for sure but is still very much a work in progress as a fighter and Lewison if fit has to be the favourite for their fight.
As for Sandland v Sokolowski that will be interesting and Sokolowski has to be favourite.

I tell you what that guy commentating really knew his stuff. Called it right from the start.

Any idea who he is?

Edit: just read the thread to see it was the white rhino.

His name is actually Lewinson.... According to British boxing supremo Adam Smith

That's the type of punch resistance where my first thought is that something is wrong with the guy. He makes Khan look like Chuvalo...

I'd favour Sandland. Without early success I see Sokolowski slipping into journeyman mode.

Good fight though.

Sandland is good at knowing when to work and when to walk. Never hangs in the pocket unless he's throwing punches.

I'm sorry I really can't stand the phrase 'in the pocket' especially from anyone not American. I cringe when I see or hear it. It's an American football expression and awful when applied to boxing. Sorry mate!
