Manny Pacquiao's adviser Mike Koncz has confirmed to FOX Sports that his fighter will clash with Jeff Horn at Brisbane’s Suncorp Arena on July 2.
“Jeff wasn’t our first preference, it was Amir Khan,” Koncz said.
“That didn’t work out and we had this on the table so we decided to take it.
“Manny will train and do the best he can and hopefully we get the fight over with very quickly, we get out of there, say hi to the Australian fans and media and come home.”
Koncz was adamant that Pacquiao signed a binding contract on Wednesday — and everything had been confirmed.
“It’s all done, it’s finished. It’s done,” Koncz said.
“I’m hoping and I’m certain that Australia will get behind the fight, that’s very important and it’s important for Manny to go there and give a good showing to his Australian fans and the Australian people in general.

It gives Jeff Horn the opportunity to become a modern day Cinderella Man.
Nobody thought Braddock could beat Baer either, and he couldn't have unless he got the opportunity.

This is a huge venture for Brisbane and plainly there will be many potential obstacles along the way, but everything points to this fight being a done deal :
Pacquiao signs to fight Horn
It’s on! WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao has signed on the dotted line Thursday to defend the title on July 2 against WBO #2 Jeff Horn at the Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane, Queensland Australia and he will start training for the fight in the first week of May.
“Manny Pacquiao already signed the contract early this week,” Pacquiao’s media relations officer Aquiles Zonio told The Manila Times in a phone interview on Thursday".
“Mike Koncz already informed me that Manny has signed the contract. The official training will start in the first week of May and it’s going to be here in Manila because there are still sessions at the Senate.”

Bob Arum has told the LA Times he wants to put at least one other title fight on the Pacquiao-Horn card.

I am. Pacs knocking on now and I could easily see his corner pulling him out late on in the fight with some sort of injury.

Considering the fight is now going ahead regardless im struggling to find what you find so unbelievable or funny.
-One of the two stand out boxers of this generation is coming to Australia. Possibly the best ever to come to these shores.
-Government funding has been put down to get the bout off the ground.
-A stadium has been booked to hold the event.
You think they're not going to promote the hell out of it?

What did you expect the promoters would do, keep it a secret so nobody paid to watch it?
There are millions of dollars involved here and nobody wants to end up going broke.

Obviously not
"Nobody wants to end up going broke", good lord, never knew that.
Bigger more credible fights lately haven't had as much coverage as that in the early going is all I am getting at

Not sure why you are so surprised a multi-million dollar fight is being promoted quite extensively? I would have been surprised if it wasn't.

Because of the calibre of opponent that Jeff Horn is. Obviously the men behind Pac have got alot of money and I'm not saying this isn't the natural and obvious thing to do, but Horn isn't exactly top draw

Not sure what your opinion of Horn has to do with it?
Fact of the matter is they have to find somewhere between $5mil and $10mil just to pay Pacquiao, and without a lot of promotion that money simply isn't going to eventuate.

Yes Pacquaio is clearly expensive
I'm simply saying that boxing is a funny old game, I'm well aware everybody needs to be well paid and it needs to be worth everybodies while, I'm not naive, I'm saying that its funny how this is being promoted in the way it is so quickly compared to say Kovalev-Ward, no one really gives a damn about Horn, and there surely could have been much better fights out there for Pac than this

Pac is a 8 division World champion who has fought a who's who of boxing he can fight who he wants. As Aussies we are excited that Jeff is fighting a legend in our country though we know there are fights internationally fans would rather Pac take Thurman,Spence,Broner etc. But it is what it is and as Aussies we are pumped for this fight.

Simple as that really, isnt it
Then again, what would a high profile fight for an Australian be, without a couple of miserable poms slinking to this side of the forum to try and stir up shit.
